Is the Nike Flyknit Trainer+ taking some slight cues from the Nike Flyknit Lunar1? You’ll notice that the silhouette is now sporting flat laces instead of those rounded off joints that originally appeared in the sneakers. Other than that this is very much the Nike Flyknit Trainer you know and love. Colors this time around include neo turquoise, white, and dark grey, a combination that comes in kinda close to that original “Blue Glow” look on the sneaker (One that’s long gone now). Nike has emphasized the “green” effect that has been produced by Flyknit, where waste is considerably minimized as the shoe upper is built with individual threads. What Nike has been rather modest about is this (see above) – the ability to create an unlimited array of radical colorways. Whether its the basic two-toned interweave of the Black and Volt or HTM’s “Snow Style” in the recent Chukka release, Flyknit has enabled Nike’s innovators to realize what was at one point limited to the imagination (or computer software). This 2013 sample fo the Nike Flyknit Trainer+ exhibits the no-holds-barred selection of colors that even Mr. Cosby would be pleased with. For better or worse, 2012 was a defining year for the sneaker world and all that it encompasses. It was a year that saw certain shoes throw the laws of supply and demand so out of whack, that brands and retailers had to completely rethink the way they sell shoes to the public just to keep the peace. If you were willing to put in some legwork or, better yet, had the right connections, it was a banner year for sneaker enthusiasts. “Must-have” releases seemed to be at an all-time high and nearly every weekend offered up some sort of temptation for consumers. 2012 saw the release of some of the most eagerly anticipated and passionately sought-after sneakers the game had ever seen and it’s safe to say that things will never be the same again.
In between those, there were plenty of other desirable targets along the way, from the special limited editions and collaborations to beloved Retro returns and promising new designs and innovations. There were even a few certified sleeper hits that organically carved out their place among the year’s best releases. Due to an exponentially expanding consumer base and a heightened level of product awareness, you might not have been able to get your hands on every shoe you hunted for in 2012, but there was certainly no shortage of solid alternatives ripe for the picking in their absence.

Shortly after Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 released his hubby Kim Kardashian was spotted strolling around in one of the rare smaller sizes. It looks like Kanye has given her yet another sneaker style tip, with Kim recently hitting the gym in the Nike Flyknit Trainer+; even rocking the same white and black combo. All the buzz around Flyknit has been regarding the upcoming Lunar One+ and the Chukka, but the original Trainer+ model will still have a strong presence in 2013 with new colorways like this Black/Blue/White version. It features a tonal black upper with a white stenciled swoosh with a Blue/Black/White multi-layered midsole. Do you prefer the regular outsole over the Lunar? We’ll have to wait to get a true side-by-side comparison, so check out the images below and look out for a release in 2013.

Kanye West is showing off some more of his Nike Flyknit Trainer range, the rapper apparently sticking to the plainer pairs available for the futuristic Swoosh design. This time around he popped up in the white/black version, reversing the set up from the prior sighting. Time Magazine has just given a 2012 “year in review” of the best innovations across all industries – a list rife with robots, electric cars, body armor, and flight-enabling suits. Does Nike Flyknit deserve a spot on this list? According to the world’s largest circulated magazine, it certainly does; Time praises Nike’s creation of this single-thread weaved upper, pointing out the incredible lightweight build and waste-free manufacturing methods. Flyknit certainly brought something fresh and new to Nike Running, which spent most the last four years focused heavily on Lunar as its headlining creation. Of course, Nike wasn’t alone in the 2012-born ‘Knit’ concept as adidas unveiled its own PrimeKnit innovation in July, and the legal battle with Nike regarding “first dibs” on the matter has brought another level of awkward tension between the two rival brands. Should Time Magazine have pointed out “Knit” alone while giving praise to both Nike and adidas?
