Kevin Durant spend some free time in New York City this week after checking “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” off his list of things to do, but it looks like he’s still in that Team USA state of mind as he was spotted in the streets in Nike x USA gear. Wearing a Nike Running half-zip top and Volt colorway of the Nike Flyknit Trainer+, Durant looks like he could very well be in Olympic mode, but instead he’s taking a much needed vacation before he heads over to China to tour around the country and offer up some basketball clinics to the youth. Here’s a look at a dozen more colorways of the Nike Flyknit Trainer+ headed our way; it’s a solid mix of the basic two-toned ‘tonal’ compositions (darker and lighter shades) with true two-toned versions like the Volt/Red, Red/Grey, and Green/Yellow. There’s no question that the Volt colorway of the Nike Flyknit Trainer has taken the prime spotlight among Nike’s ‘Medal Stand’ Collection of Footwear; Team USA has won a total of 61 medals thus far in the 2012 Olympics, which makes for a lot ‘Medal Stand’ appearances in those flashy Team USA jackets and the electric Flyknits. Michael Phelps, who received an award for his amazing individual achievements over the last three Olympic Games (21 medals total, 17 of them Gold), finished off his epic Olympic career by taking his final Gold Medal during the Men’x 4x100m Medley Relay – that’s four Golds and two Silvers in total in London. With the swimming program coming to a close yesterday, Michael Phelps has confirmed his intentions to retire his Speedos for good and pursue charitable endeavors, exiting the pool as one of the greatest athletes in the history of…existence. The Olympics are all business, but if you overpowered your opponent so emphatically like Team USA did Tunisia, you deserve a little break. After defeating Tunisia by a Dream Team-like margin of 47 points, the members of Team USA spent a night out in London – specifically the Funky Buddha venue in Mayfair. All were donned in Nike USA gear from head to toe, with guys like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and James Harden wearing some notable kicks; LeBron was clad in the Trainer 1 Max 360 Breathe, Melo rocked the Blazer Mid ‘USA’, KD rocked the Volt/Black Flyknit Trainers, and Harden brought some Stateside sneaker flavor by wearing the Gym Green Foamposites. Both the Racer and Trainer from Nike’s Flyknit collection arrived in new colorways today, and Nike 1948 in London was ready with a week-long opening ceremony. Tonight’s Performance presentation will be the final Flyknit Collective workshop after earlier focuses on Sustainability, Lightness and Formfitting, with tomorrow marking the third release of the HTM Flyknit collection. The 1948 retail space has been transformed to reflect this groundbreaking new digital weave, so click through to see what it’s like and if you’re in the area, be ready when HTM Flyknit part 3 drops on Saturday at noon.

It’s been a few years since Nike came through with a completely fresh idea, but the elongated stretch of time that was spent in Flyknit R&D certainly makes the wait all the more worth it. Tomorrow, Nike will launch the first wide general release of the Nike Flyknit in two models – the Flyknit Racer (two colorways) and the Flyknit Trainer (a whopping 10 colorways); Flyknit, as you know debuted in late February with a soft launch of the uber-limited HTM collection, so if you were one of the many Flyknit fans that missed out on any other three Collections (the third HTM Flyknit Collection dropped this morning at 1948), Nikestore will stock the entire collection tomorrow as will Nike locations like 21 Mercer and Nike Fukuoka in Japan. The information you’ve all been waiting for: The Nike Flyknit Trainer+ is set for a release this Friday, July 27th, at select Nike retailers and on Nikestore. Ten jaw-dropping colorways at $150 a pop – it’ll be a true test of self-control once these become available. Some of our readers have been a bit confused as to the distinction between the Flyknit Trainer+ (shown below in the ten colorways) and the Flyknit Racer+; the Racer has a different upper (the larger swoosh is the sure-fire giveaway) and will only release in two colorways (we’ll you with that information in just a little bit). Which of the ten will you be copping? Keep your eye on this Friday because these are slated to hit Nikestore, but be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more release information.
