The information you’ve all been waiting for: The Nike Flyknit Trainer+ is set for a release this Friday, July 27th, at select Nike retailers and on Nikestore. Ten jaw-dropping colorways at $150 a pop – it’ll be a true test of self-control once these become available. Some of our readers have been a bit confused as to the distinction between the Flyknit Trainer+ (shown below in the ten colorways) and the Flyknit Racer+; the Racer has a different upper (the larger swoosh is the sure-fire giveaway) and will only release in two colorways (we’ll you with that information in just a little bit). nike flyknit usa track and field trial Nike FlyKnit Trainer+ #FIRST2FLY USA Track & Field Trial

Truth be told, Nike perfected the ‘running shoe’ years and years ago, so whatever new innovations and engineering marvels come out of Beaverton are only going to raise your game. The latest advancement, introduced earlier this year, is FlyKnit – a weave of super-lightweight fibers that comprise one no-sew upper shell that maximizes fit and breathabililty. These two new #FIRST2FLY colorways made for Team USA for the Track & Field Trials exemplify the unique nature of FlyKnit, where two different colors can be combined into one for a distinct appeal – only these two are already sold out. More Flyknit Trainer+ colorways will hit retailers very soon, so check out the USA Track & Field Trials editions below and let us know if you think Flyknit is one of the best innovations Nike has put out over the last decade! Nike Flyknit Trainer – Volt – Orange

nike flyknit trainer volt orange Nike Flyknit Trainer Volt Orange

The current state of Nike Innovation focuses more on ‘re-invention’ rather than anything else, and the Flyknit is the perfect example of re-inventing an already perfect sneaker into something visually and technically stunning. Nike Sportswear recently showcased the new innovation at the Flyknit Collective Workshop No. 2 in New York City recently, and it was there that this sick new multi-colored Flyknit Trainer was spotted. The true potential of Flyknit is just at its beginning stages of being tapped, so where Flyknit could end up all depends on how far Nike decides to stretch it – even Creative Director Ben Shaffer doesn’t count out a potential Nike SB Flyknit (although it would seem that Flyknit wasn’t built to withstand the high level of wear-and-tear experienced in skating). Your thoughts on this sick new colorway of the Flyknit Trainer and the potential of Flyknit across multiple sports? Let us know what you think and find out more as Complex sits down to talk Flyknit with Nike’s Todd Jordan (former SB rider).

nike olympics podium 1 Nike Unveils Team USA Olympic Medal Podium Gear

It isn’t at all MVPresumptuous that Nike has been designing their podium gear for USA Olympic athletes well in advance of the 2012 London Games.  Historically, the US is the most oft-golded nation, and as Global Olympic Creative Director Martin Lotti noted, “The world is watching and we want to make sure the athlete looks and feels good in celebration of their achievement.”  For the first time, the Swoosh is offering three distinct outfits for different sports, top-to-bottom outfits that bring together the style and comfort of modern warmups with some of Beaverton’s best footwear styles.  The track athletes as well as those from other traditional sports will suit up in the 21st C. Windrunner and Nike Flyknit Trainer, ballers of varying sorts should show up in the MKII Jacket and Air Force 1 Low and the rest (archery, boxing, cycling, etc.) are slated to accept their medals in the Varsity Bomber Classic and an equally updated classic in the LunarLon-cushioned Blazer Mid LR.  Check out these outfits and the sneakers up close below, let us know who’s got the winning look and stick with Sneaker News for more 2012 Olympic shoes and gear.
