LIVESTRONG x Nike Free Run+ 2 LAF

In looking at a white and Varsity Maize Dunk High recently, we noted that their relationship to the iconic ‘Goldenrod’ getup is similar to the progression seen from Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG collaborations with Nike over the years. What started as strictly black and yellow has evolved with whites, greys and the recent addition of Radio Shack reds and even a hint of green every now and again. This new Nike Free Run+ 2 adds blue to that list, keeping the LAF vibe going thanks tot the crisp white base layer and its interplay with the familiar V.Maize, even despite the preponderance of royal. Nike Free Run Y2K By Gabriel Dishaw

“One man’s junk is another man’s…”

Gabriel Dishaw, the self-proclaimed ‘junk artist’, is known in Sneaker News circles for his sick Nike sculptures made of old computer and machine parts. If you were impressed by his Nike Blazer Pentium 1.0, his Air Max 2011, or his entire ‘No So New Shoes’ exhibit, check out the Nike Free Run 2, which he calls the Nike Free Time Y2K; focusing on the theme of ‘time’, Dishaw used old watch bands for structure while adding machine keys on the signature Free outsole and other computer parts to make up this size 9.5, 15 lb. shoe. These are definitely one of the best pieces of sneaker ‘art’ we’ve seen in a long while, so check out the gallery of Gabriel Dishaw‘s Nike Free Run Y2K below and let us know what you think.

Nike Running Black Pack Quickstrike

Generally it’s the older runners, the Air Maxes and the like that get the quickstrike treatment from Nike Sportswear. Every once in a while though the newer generation gets a taste of the special treatment, as with the Liu Xiang x Nike Running Collection from the latter half of last year. Furthering the limited releases for their brand new models, Nike is kicking off this year with the ‘Black Pack’, a deep range of colorways for both the Nike Free Run+ 2 and the Nike Lunarglide 3, split evenly down the middle for men and women. The look here is defined by a blacked out upper matched with an eye-popping outsole, with highlighter colors lighting up the pack. Follow us after the jump for a full look at the Nike Running ‘Black Pack’ which will be up for pre-order at Eastbay come Saturday, January 14th.

Nike Free Run+ 2 Wolf Grey University Red Volt

Lately most of the updates we’ve been giving you on Nike Free related sneakers have been on other models in the Swoosh repertoire getting the Free upgrade. You’ve seen the Nike Huarache Free 2012 and the Nike Footscape Free, but let’s not forget about the main event, the flag bearer for this year: the Nike Free Run+ 2. The layered construction on these runners has proven to be a great canvas for two toned colorways, exemplified here by the university red/volt partnership. Going with the typical neutral look on the lightweight mesh, the web like hits that wrap the sneaker show up with a burst of color. Get the full look after the jump and grab this new release now from Finishline.

Liu Xiang x Nike Running Collection Part 2

The punchline is pretty tired at this point, but it was once a novelty in the rap game to claim you had “kicks like Liu Kang”, referencing a character in the arcade classic Mortal Kombat. Going forward it might be more appropriate to call on Olympic athlete Liu Xang given his killer collection put together in collaboration with Nike Sportswear. Part one dropped back in the summer and were here with the follow up, a four pair collection with featuring the Nike Free Run+ 2 and the Nike Lunarglide 3. The capsule is split down the middle color-wise for the ladies and men, with imperial purple pairs for the fellas and max orange for the ladies. Continue reading for a better look at all four and stick with us for more looks as these Asia exclusives. via Kix Files

Nike Running Shield Collection on NIKEiD

One of the keys to a well-designed running shoe is ventilation, but like any weekend warrior could tell you, cold, nasty weather and breathable, porous mesh aren’t exactly BFFs.  So those looking to keep fit footing the outdoor trails will be thrilled to learn of the latest addition to NIKEiD: the Nike Running Shield Collection.  The Shield set of six released earlier this month in a Vintage Box-esque color theme, but the above pictured ‘Sprite’ selection is just one of countless combinations you can apply to Nike Free Run+ 2 and LunarGlide+ 3; got anything special in mind?  Click through to see more samples and let us know which combos look best on each model.

Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2011 Collection

All the best things in the sneaker world come back around in cycles, be it the annual Air Jordan and Air Max series or the countless classics revived with retro release runs.  This collaboration, now in its eighth year, has some of both along with the opportunity to help a charitable cause and pick up some of the year’s most playful designs.  The Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle VIII is something sneakerheads knew to expect during the holiday season and our previews of the Air Jordan IV DB were just the top of the iceberg for this six-pair set.  Along with Isiah Scott’s ‘super-’AJIV come Dacia Kasenga’s Nike Shox NZ, Daniel Bair’s Air Max 95s, Warang McManus’ Dunk High Skinny, Anthony Roletto’s V-Rod SBs and Mackenzie Short’s Free Run+ 2s; which one’s the best?  You can see all six after the jump and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for word on their availability following the initial October 8th auction.

Nike Free Run+ 2 Black Anthracite Varsity Red

Things have been sort of quiet on the Nike Free Run+ 2 front lately, having calmed down a little bit since releases like the City Pack and the Run Dem Crew exclusives. This one isn’t any sort of quickstrike/limited edition release but that’s no reason to look it over, as the black/red combo has always been a strong one in the hands of Nike. Despite the use of varsity red the outcome here is more “Vamp” than “Bred”, with the deep shade of red crawling across the outer layer of construction for the upper. Take a full look after the jump at the Nike Free Run+ 2 in Black/Anthracite/Varsity Red and grab your pair now from Finishline.
