A shoe so popular it’s now entering the third year of its product cycle, the Nike Free Run+ 2 offers another example of how midsole speckling brings a color palette together. This latest Free Run 2 has been dubbed ‘Oreo’ because of the way its black and grey build comes together on the cookie crumble soles, a color/texture combo we’ve seen on a couple of Air Jordan retro-plus releases. They follow in the footsteps of the holiday season’s Team Red and Stadium Green drops (not to mention the speckled Free Run 3s), so click through to see more and let us know how they compare, then grab yours at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Premier.

Nike WMNS Free Run+ 2 PRM EXT – Black – Rave Pink

Nike Sportswear’s EXT series offers casually-oriented takes on current and recently succeeded performance models. The Nike Free Run+ 2 can be seen as the catalyst for this movement, a barefoot runner so good that people wouldn’t stop buying them even while the 3s are quite popular themselves these days. We’ve come to expect suede, leather or other luxurious treatments like wool, but the latest ladies release occupies a new class thanks to a glossy metallic Rave Pink exoskeleton that really pops atop a black base layer. Let us know how these compare to the less flashy approaches we’ve seen on the Free Run 2 EXT, then grab yours at NSW retailers like Oneness.

After a smashing success in the sophomore year (that wasn’t even necessarily ‘supposed to’ happen), the ever popular Nike Free Run+ 2 is back with a second set of WVN drops to start year number three. Switching from leather to suede overlays, the Free Run 2 Woven brings forth three more dope two-toned colorups that suggest its reign could continue for years to come. Black/Volt and Sport Grey/Flame combos offer energy pops while the Anthracite/Concord edition is the cool customer of the group and all three are available now from Titolo.

Nike Free Run+ 2 NSW “Oreo”

The Nike Free Run+ 2 continues to assert itself as the Swoosh’s finest barefoot-mimicking design to date, appearing in a fresh new lifestyle edition that capitalizes on one of the hottest looks of the year. This new ‘Oreo’ Free Run 2 features a color combination and midsole speckling we’ve seen on memorable releases like the Air Jordan IV (which was falsely rumored to return in 2012) and VI (a 2010 release). Speckles always help to integrate a colorway more thoroughly and that effect is extended with grey in the middle both literally as in the upper’s layering and figuratively with regard to color saturation, and you can see how this simple suede style comes together in more photos after the jump.
