Earlier this year Nike surprised us with a sweet Camo colorway of the new Nike Free Trainer 3.0 made for Clay Matthews. It seems that the new Free-based model will be used as part of a string of NFL athlete-inspired colorways as we get a look at another pair made for another Nike-branded star in Chris Johnson. This particular edition features a nice Tennessee Titans colorway with CJ’s legendary 4.24 40-yard-dash speed showcased on the heel and insoles – although it’s no clear if wearing these will give you that kind of speed! These special editions are available now at retailers like Eastbay so check out the additional angles below and stay tuned for more potential NFL colorways of this great model.

Camouflage print made an incredible “comeback” of sorts in 2012. Not that it ever went out of style, but Camo, in all styles, was in heavy usage in 2012 and will likely follow in 2013 in some areas you might not expect. The recently introduced Nike Free Trainer 3.0 is an example of where a urban lifestyle detailing doesn’t really cross over, but this new release captures that rugged quality perfectly – with the bright neon green hints on the outsole adding a nice contrast. This particular pair is actually inspired by Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who is gearing up for a playoff game tomorrow. Nike continues to expand on its available trainer offerings both with the Sportswear division’s heritage classics and the Training unit’s cutting edge performance machines. The latest example of the latter is the upcoming Nike Free Trainer 3.0, a lightweight, barefoot-mimicking crosstrainer whose exoskeletal overlay creates potential for a new kind of gradated colorway along the lines of what’s possible with Hyperfuse layering. The design weighs just 9 ounces and features a Dynamic Fit system to grip the foot, a Phylon midsole, and of course a Nike Free outsole to give it that barefoot feel. Nike dropping its partnership with Lance Armstrong set off a chain reaction whereby all but one of the (soon to be former) seven-time Tour de France champion’s top sponsors gave him the axe on Wednesday.
