Nike dropping its partnership with Lance Armstrong set off a chain reaction whereby all but one of the (soon to be former) seven-time Tour de France champion’s top sponsors gave him the axe on Wednesday. Nike’s marketing prowess is unmatched, so when the Swoosh commits to LIVESTRONG and Lance’s namesake Foundation, we’re reminded that the fight against cancer is more important than all the bicycles in Europe. So as of this writing, Nike still plans to move forward with the 2013 LIVESTRONG collection, which boasts eight different footwear options including five of next year’s big new debuts. We’re back with more looks at the Nike NFL Draft pack, an expansive set of 32 sneakers with one colorway for each time and the proprietary models included getting split up across the various divisions. This time we’re taking a look at the so-called ‘NASCAR Division’, the NFC South, one of the more balanced groups in the league with each of the four teams having clenched at least two division titles since its formation a decade ago. If your team falls among these then the sneaker waiting for you is the Nike Free Trainer 5.0, a model that’s already had an NFL brush up once before via the Pro Bowl Pack. Anyone paying attention to the most minute of details in the Nike Free line has no doubt noticed it by now, that tiny 5.0 etched on the midsole of the most recent crop of runners signifying a new mold for the flexible line. Among said crop is a solid cross-training offering in the form of the Nike Free Trainer 5.0 V3 shown here, which pairs a lightweight angular looking upper with the nubbed Free design on bottom. Also keep in mind that while Nike has them billed as the Nike Free TR3, we’re pretty sure Nike Free Trainer 5.0 V3 is the proper nomenclature.

With Nike well on their way to taking over the outfitting contracts for the NFL, you can expect the realm of Football related PE’s to get a lot deeper in the future. A quick taste of that was the Nike 2012 Pro Bowl Pack, a trio of trainers that didn’t find their way onto the field of Aloha Stadium but were quite a treat for the involved players nonetheless. With the Nike Trainer 1.3 Max Breathe, the Nike Free Trainer 5.0, and a slick colorway of the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse all included, it was the kind of pack that likely would have been snapped up pretty quickly in the event of a retail release. And while that didn’t go down you still have a chance at grabbing a pair, as the full set is up for grabs on eBay now. Excited for the Pro Bowl? All-Star festivities in all sports are always a great fan-draw, but if you’re a Giants or a Patriots fan, don’t expect your team’s Pro Bowl selections to get any action, because they need to be well-rested and healthy for the game that really counts – the Superbowl. Not long ago, Sneaker News showed you the Nike 2012 Pro Bowl Pack, which featured the Nike Trainer 1.3 Max Breathe, the Nike Free Trainer 5.0, and the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse; all three feature the a sick ‘FTBL Maximus Athleta’ labeling around the shoe, the 01.29.12 date stitched into the inner lining, and a special graphic of the state of Hawaii on the soles of the Air Max 90 Hyperfuse and Free Trainer 5.0. The annual NFL Pro Bowl tradition has spawned quite a number of sick PE colorways of the Nike Dunk Low ’2011 Pro Bowl’ of last year (although sadly, it never released). This year’s focus will be on two of Nike’s newest Training models as well as a revamped Sportswear variety – the Nike Trainer 1.3 Max, Nike Free Trainer 5.0, and the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse. At the epicenter of this sick capsule of footwear is a Solar Red and Grey motif, giving the Trainer 1.3 Max and Free Trainer 5.0 a jolt of energy and the Air Max 90 Hyperfuse a familiar ‘Infrared’ vibe. Stitched on the inner linings of all three is the date of the big game – January 29th, 2012 – while the Trainer 1.3 Max dons special edition lettering on the heel, reading ‘Maximus Athleta’.
