We may not need roads, but we’re gonna need more storage space if Nike continues to pump out these outstanding Back To The Future-inspired sneaker releases. Beginning with 2008′s Hyperdunk ‘McFly’, Nike Basketball has continued to produce these Mag-styled kicks like the Hypermax and Hyperdunk 2010, and it wasn’t until September of 2011 that Nike went all-out and created the actual Nike Mag shoe from BTTF II. Ross, a devoted reader of Sneaker News, just hit us up with his sick ‘Back To The Future’ Collection, which features all four of these amazing high-top kicks with a dope DeLorean poster acting as a back-drop. The Nike Mag 2011 is undoubtedly the best sneaker release of the year and perhaps the last decade. Leading up to 2011′s magnanimous return of the self-lacing (sorta) sneakers was the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk ‘McFly’ that released in 2008. Inspired by the grey/like blue/pink tones seen on the original Mag, the Hyperdunk ‘McFly’ was an instant hit and to this day, remains as one of the most coveted sneakers of this generation. The sequel to the Hyperdunk was the Hyperdunk 2010, and a ‘McFly’ version was also devised utilizing a similar colorway from the Hyperdunk ‘McFly’. These, however, never did release, but a few samples did manage to make their way into the hands of some lucky recipients and collectors. If the Nike Mag 2011 is too rich for your blood, consider these unreleased Hyperdunk 2010 ‘McFly’ Promo Samples as a worthy replacement. We’ve got a detailed viewing after the jump, so take a look and hit up the auction from beautifulwinner on eBay.

The last time Sneaker News showed you a pair of Dirk Nowitzki’s Nike Hyperdunk 2010 PEs, we speculated that his Dallas Mavericks might be a dark horse contender heading into the NBA Playoffs. It was more wild conjecture than a real prediction, but sure enough, the Mavericks did indeed surprise the world and earn a rematch of the 2006 Finals vs. Miami. And though it’s tough to say which team has the edge going into what’s sure to be a very highly-rated series, we can expect more brilliance from Dirk just like he can always count on Nike Basketball‘s Hyperdunk 2010 to give him just enough lift on that unstoppable fallaway. This latest Nowitzki player exclusive Hyperdunk 2011 adds a bunch more blue when compared to the earlier model, and you can see more images when you click on the jump below.

Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Nike and Reebok went head to head to determine who would control the basketball sneaker market for what has turned out to be nearly two decades. Nike had Michael Jordan, but they went so far as to more or less copy the ever popular Reebok Pump with the Air Pressure, leading the Vector brand to respond that fans should make the decision to ‘Pump Up and Air Out’. We hadn’t seen any such oppositional marketing since then, but with adidas purchasing Reebok outright in 2005 to unite as the world’s second largest athletic brand, you just knew that wouldn’t be the end. So here’s the newest example of brand warfare, a literal assault on the Nike Hyperdunk 2010 courtesy of adidas Basketball’s aptly named 9.8oz banger, the Crazy Light.
The Crazy Light is shown to be levitating thanks to its featherlight construction, whereas it takes getting samurai chopped to get the Hyperdunk 2010 down to a similar weight. A striking image, to be sure, but is being lighter than your competitor by the weight of their lateral toe really a huge advantage? Could ads like this draw attention to the aggressor as underdog and thereby give unintended attention to the competitor? And if you’ve worn a pair, is the adidas adiZero Crazy Light really better on court than the Hyperdunk 2010? Click through to see the ad in its entirety and be sure to leave a comment to let us know what you think of this approach to advertising.

White basketball shoes have been a summer necessity since the Air Force 1, but as new technologies develop, designers are able to add little twists here and there to keep things feeling fresh. Have a gander at this new Nike Hyperdunk 2010 Low in the immortal white and Metallic Silver combo. They have a bit more character than your average all-white lowtops thanks to an iridescent shine on the Flywire-reinforced TPU upper shell. This spectrum effect looks quite nice next to the metallic heel counter, more images of which you can see by clicking on the jump below. If you like what you see, grab a pair from a Nike Basketball retailer like Schuh-You.

New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has been open about his intention to take the franchise global and here’s his first chance to put the soon to be Brooklyn-based product on the map abroad. Tonight/this afternoon, the O2 Arena in London will host a regular season game between the Nets and Toronto Raptors, both of whom will outfit players in special Nike Hyperdunk 2010 ‘UK’ player exclusives. The colorways are similar to what you might expect, the Raptors edition pretty closely matching a retail release from late last year, but both go for gunmetal grey on their Flywire-embedded TPU uppers and add a Union Jack to the tongue to complete the British theme. These are available now in the UK, but stick with Sneaker News for word on a possible US release date. Click through to see both pairs, and let us know which is better.
