defining moments hyperdunk Outliving The Hype: Defining Moments of the Nike Hyperdunk Series

The Nike Hyperdunk series has amassed a decorated history since it was first unveiled in 2008. It’s touched the feet of almost every significant Nike Basketball athlete, been used as a platform to unveil some incredible new innovation, and acted as a bridge to connect basketball-crazed countries around the globe. With that said, this prized legacy might have as much historical significance as any other sneaker lineage in the Nike archives, and as it reinvents itself into an all-new iteration in the 2014 model, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t expect the Hyperdunk to be a big player in the culture of the sport of basketball and the accompanying footwear landscape.

Will Nike Basketball ever match the success of their “Galaxy” All-Star sneakers from 2012? It’s certainly going to be tough to do so considering how celebrated those LeBrons, KDs, and Kobes were. Don’t forget that there were a couple of pairs with that theme that never made it to retail, the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 here being one of them. This particular colorway was worn by Chris Bosh – note that they’ve got the “East” detailing across the tongue. undftd nike collaborations The OG Sneaker Boutique and the Swoosh: History of UNDFTD x Nike

Any discussion of the world’s best sneaker boutiques must include Undefeated. The LA-based shop began back in 2001, before just about every shop that makes up today’s sneaker landscape. UNDFTD has gone on to become more than just the sneaker boutique originator while expanding their business to Las Vegas and Japan, and with a range of collaborative partners reading like a who’s who of major sneaker manufacturers, Eddie Cruz’ shop is indeed one of the most influential labels of the streetwear generation.

The UNDFTD x Nike “Bring Back” pack’s second installment is very nearly here. The two sneakers utilized, the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 and the Nike Dunk High, wear a set of colors that you might find a little bit more in touch with Undefeated’s military vibe than the crispy white of the first duo. The return of the Nike Dunk High is cause for celebration for those who’ve been in this thing long enough to remember ogling the original 2003 joints, and the Nike Hyperdunk serves up a rare slice of collab heat taking place on a contemporary sneaker. See both after the jump and watch for the sneakers in stores this Saturday, May 25th.

The collab pairs of the UNDFTD x Nike Dunk High handed out eleven years ago are back again, this time ending up much more accessible thanks to the actual retail release that’s in the works. In case you need a little refresher on their history: the Nike Dunk High “Ballistic” was originally a celebration shoe for the UNDFTD crew commemorating the opening of their second storefront. That look is getting brought back as well as transferred over, with the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 grabbing at the olive and black combination. See the UNDFTD x Nike “Bring Back” pack after the jump and remember that these will be in stores this Saturday, May 25th.
