The 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend came to a mighty close last Sunday night, with the league’s best stars across the NBA showcasing their talents in some of the most vibrant and colorful sneakers we’ve seen this year. Although the mid-season festivities are done and the NBA is now zeroing in on the Playoffs, let’s take on trip back to this past weekend with a rare look at all the sneakers that were inside the All-Star Locker Rooms, courtesy of Dime; all of the All-Star kicks are organized neatly in front of each player’s chairs, providing some clear visuals on some of the spicier PEs like LaMarcus Aldridge’s Hyperposite and the various Hyperdunk 2012s, and even some upcoming releases like the Nike LeBron X Low, the Jordan Melo M9 ‘Nemesis, and Nike Kobe 8 ‘Grey/Volt’. With Area 72 being a big topic of conversation this weekend, let’s keep the discussion going and explore more into the All-Star footwear put forth by Nike. This Nike Hyperdunk 2012 PE spotted on the feet of David Lee seems like a good place to start, considering Nike iD just released the ‘Extraterrestrial’ iD options on the shoe not long ago. Lee’s pair features a blue base on the upper with additional hits of teal and orange on the outsole, with speckling galore to give the shoe that out-of-this-world appearance that has been so incredibly popular with sneakers since Galaxy made its debut in February 2012. Remember that option that NIKE iD teased out yesterday that seemed to be caught up in this year’s alien themed NBA All-Star pack? It turns out the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 is the model that will be picking up on said option in the form of the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 iD ‘Extraterrestrial’. The option looks to plant the starry, galactic print on the upper of the sneakers, an approach that definitely furthers the already futuristic look of this Nike+ equipped basketball sneaker. UNDFTD has been doing this sneaker collaboration thing for a while, and they know by now that sometimes less is more. Sort of in the same way that Supreme cranked out a simple set of bangers with their Nike Air Force 1 trio last year, Undefeated has whipped up a couple of Dunk styles that remain minimal in their execution. The result is the UNDFTD x Nike ‘Bring Back’ pack, which grabs their classic white/gum Nike Dunk High for another go around, and slaps the same palette on its contemporary the Nike Hyperdunk 2012. The UNDFTD x Nike ‘Bringback Pack’ is probably the single most unexpected release to register in the massive sneaker weekend that is ahead of us. The two sneaker set very literally brings back the UNDFTD x Nike Dunk High white/gum pair from 2001, doing so via the standard Dunk High silhouette and via more contemporary means on the Nike Hyperdunk 2012. The first teasers of the UNDFTD x Nike ‘Bringback Pack’ (along with the name) promised that the two sneaker set would very much be an echo of Undefeated’s earliest work with Nike. The reveal here proves the set to be very nostalgic, with the Nike Dunk High from the duo looking like an almost exact reprisal of the original white and gum combo from 2001. The Nike Hyperdunk 2012 also picks up on the look, slapping the five strikes logo on the heel and a classy gumsole tooling on bottom. Cali-based UNDFTD bridges the gap from Dunk to Hyperdunk as we get a first teaser look at the UNDFTD x Nike Hyperdunk 2012 “Bringback”. Designed with the original UNDFTD x Nike Dunk in mind, the Hyperdunk features a tonal white upper, a gum outsole, and the label’s signature strike-through tally logo on the heel of the shoe. For those not in the know, UNDFTD’s Dunk design marks the first ever boutique collaboration ever completed by Nike, which then sparked a series of store-parternships in the first-half of the 2000s.
