The Nike Kobe 8 is about to take a stroll, heading off the Staples Center courts and onto the sand and sidewalks at the relatively nearby Venice Beach. On its way it will pick up a multitude of crazy colors, all of which are splashed across the upper of the new Nike Kobe 8 “Venice Beach”. The pair is one that’s been on slow leak for a minute, the first images having shown up a couple of months ago. The Nike Kobe 8 “Blitz Blue” is one of those pairs from Kobe’s latest that doesn’t take too much advantage of the graphic route across the Engineered Mesh up top. That’s not necessarily a bad thing-we don’t think anyone wants to see shoe after shoe sporting crazy prints across it. Instead, there’s a simple batch of blue that lightens up around the blazing orange Swoosh. The shoe is still a bit of a mystery, as no US shops are reporting stock yet, but they will be showing up tomorrow at Livestock in Canada. Even Kobe Bryant stops playing basketball every once in a while. As of this summer he’ll finally have his own specific sneaker to wear for such instances: the Nike Kobe 8 NSW Lifestyle. The colorway shown is the only one we’ve had a look at so far, a super colorful sort of knitted look that’s been dubbed the “Mexican Blanket” Nike Kobe 8 NSW. Still no word on a US release date, but the sneakers are starting to show up out in Asia so that’s a good sign. It looks like LeBron isn’t the only one who will see his sneakers transform into a lifestyle look this year. The Nike Kobe 8 looks to be transitioning into this Nike Kobe 8 NSW model as well. The upper echoes that Kobe vibe with both the Swoosh placement and the remnants of the heel clip on the back, both of which are placed on a flat-footed sole to help it transition to an entirely different category. The Nike Kobe 8 Mambacurial will release on June 7th here in North American, having already arrived at select Asian spots. The sneaker is one with heavy soccer ties, ties that link back to Kobe’s upbringing in Italy that had him equally exposed to basketball and “football” as our European friends call it. The Engineered Mesh upper pioneered by the Nike Kobe 8 proper is reworked here, picking up an alternate bootie look from the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX.
