Nike LeBron 8 V/2 “L23″ Sample

Whatever final products come out of the Nike factory line is sure to be impressive, but we don’t get to see much in terms of the middle ‘sample’ phase, which could be largely different from what we have on our feet. For a signature shoe like the Nike LeBron 8, there’s no doubt that Jason Petrie and Co. had to go back to the drawing board one time or another (especially after LeBron made a game-changing announcement), and seeing this sample of the LeBron 8 V/2 Cool Grey proves that a few details, like the external layer on the Flywire panels and toe, the patent leather on the lace plackets, and most importantly, the L23 logo on the heel, were shelved for good. Take a good look at this earlier pre-Decision LeBron 8 V/2 sample below and see what the final selling price for this version was by checking out the full listing from dragoman on eBay.

Nike LeBron 8 V2 “Flamingo” Mid Look-See Sample

The Nike LeBron 8 ‘Flamingo’ aka ‘Miami Nights’ was designed as a celebration shoe for LeBron James first NBA Championship last Summer, but as we all know, that prediction was one year too early. Regardless, the ‘Flamingo’ Low-tops still released as a mere special-edition and is among the best of the LeBron 8 chapter of releases, but Jason Petrie once showed us a ‘Mid’ version (that consequently set the world of LeBron followers on fire). Here we have another look at this Look-See sample of this controversial shoe, and clearly, the Mids were never meant to go beyond ‘look and see’. But if these did release, would a LeBron 8 V/2 ‘Flamingo’ Mid be one of the greatest LeBrons ever, perhaps rivaling the ‘South Beach’? Let us know what you think. Photos: lookseegoods

Nike LeBron 8 V/2 ‘Hardwood Classic’ Sample

‘What if’ is a question sports fans and sneakerheads love to ask.  Talking heads on TV and the net handle the former debates while color-swap customizers take the latter into their own hands, very often borrowing palettes from LeBron James’ signature line.  Guys like Mache, El Cappy and C2 specialize in appropriating noteworthy styles, but almost all of those manifested on the LeBron 8 came on the first version, not its Flywire-shelled follow-up.  So while nobody gave us a handcrafted look at the vintage Cleveland Cavaliers colors on the Nike LeBron 8 V/2, it looks like Nike Basketball would have been ready for a scenario whereby ‘The Decision’ kept King James in his home state.  This fan favorite ‘Hardwood Classics’ palette features speckling on its full-length Max Air cushion just like the Air Max LeBron VII Hyperfuse ‘HWC’ sample we saw a year ago that might be this one’s closest kin.  Click through for a better look at one of the gems from a season that could have been and stick with Sneaker News for more rare Nike LeBron samples.  Photos: LRJ23

Nike LeBron Samples On Display in Jason Petrie’s Office

A sudden snowfall hit the Oregon area (a region that almost never gets any of the white goodness) and UofO students enjoyed the delayed midterm schedule while Nike designer Jason Petrie peered out at the ‘winter wonderland’ from the comfort of his office chair. While he tweeted his desire to be ‘boarding on Mt. Hood, we sneakerheads were caught agaze at the Nike LeBron samples lined up along the window sills of his office. A quick viewing and you’ll spot a ‘Miami Dolphins’ colorway of the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low, the LeBron VII Cleats on the far left, a trio of ‘Volt’-ed out LeBrons, and a blazing-hot orange/blue at the very top. Quite a sight to see, but we know Jason’s got a lot more to show off (hint, hint), so check out some close-up shots of these never-before-seen samples below and let us know what catches your eye the most!

Nike LeBron 8 V/2 – Miami Heat ‘Alternate’ PE

February 1st, 2012 by | 7 comments

nike lebron 8 v2 miami heat alternate pe 3 Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Miami Heat Alternate PE

Some NBA teams, like the Miami Heat, rotate among three in-game uniforms. The ‘Home’ White, the ‘Away’ Black, and the ‘Alternate’ which is usually a more pungent color that may or may not mesh well with the team (see: Dallas Mavericks silver alternate jerseys). Miami’s Alternate is typically the fiery red colorway, which perfectly rounds out the exclusive group of PE colorways of the Nike LeBron 8 V/2; we already showed you the ‘Home’ version as well as the ‘Away’ version, so although the LeBron 8 is somewhat of a bit of ‘old’ news, it’s definitely worth showed you the third ‘Alternate’, isn’t it? Given the red upper and the speckled midsole, these are astoundingly similar to the LeBron 8 V/2 ‘Christmas’ that dropped a day after LeBron and the Heat had their way with the Lakers during that highly-publicized Christmas Day match-up. Like what you see (or don’t)? Let us know in the comments section below. via nikelebron/artaphax.

Nike LeBron 8 V2 ‘SVSM’

nike lebron 8 v2 svsm 1 Nike LeBron 8 V2 SVSM

Especially for the extra sick pine green nubuck ‘away’ pair, the Nike LeBron 8 PEs for King James’ alma mater were among the very best unreleased colorway from the last product cycle.  But a St. Vincent St. Mary colorway is as much of a given on a Nike LeBron model as bred or any other go-to palette, so while it’s totally unexpected, it’s not utterly shocking to see the LeBron 8 V/2 in green and gold.  These conform to roughly the same colorblocking pattern as the ‘away’ V1s, but a patent leather eyestay combined with the V2′s synthetic shell makes for quite a difference between the two versions.  Which one would you pick if these had made it out to retail, and are you excited about the possibility of a SVSM LeBron 9?  Let us know with a comment after you check out a series of additional images below the jump.  via YungDrSeuss

Nike LeBron 8 V/2 – Victory Green – Electric Green | Sample

When we see unreleased samples of the Nike LeBron 8, we normally think they are in the possession of topdog sneakerheads like DJ Clark Kent and Mayor of the ATF Crew. Those two individuals have caused rabid jealousy in the sneaker world by giving us glimpses of their LeBron 8s that have never released, but this latest unreleased and never-before-seen sample has popped up from an eBay seller (but if any of the ATF Crew members has this pair, show us!). Here’s a detailed look at an unreleased sample of the LeBron 8 V/2 in two tones of green with a white trim; the upper is owned by a tonal Victory Green hue, with accents of Electric Green on the outsole, Max Air, swoosh border, and laces. One interesting detail is the insoles of the shoes, which appears to be a silhouette of LeBron James dunking over a tall center. Were these the original Dunkmans with a new logo? Continue reading for a thorough look at this sick Spring 2011 sample colorway and let us know if you’d cop if they ever released. If you want to add these size 9s to your stash, head on over to the auction from rekha085 on eBay.
