NIKE LEBRON 8 The Nike LeBron 8 is the eighth sneaker in the mainline LeBron James lineup for Nike, a silhouette designed by Jason Petrie that arrived at a historical moment in James' career as he left his longtime home with the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Miami Heat. This decision was famously captured in what is hands down the most sought after colorway of the sneaker, the Nike LeBron 8 'South Beach'.

Nike LeBron 8 “Flamingo/Miami Nights” Sample on eBay

Somewhere down the line the ‘Flamingo’ colorway of the LeBron took a drastic turn when it went from ‘Mid’ form to the Summer-ready ‘Low’, but was that such a tragic move? Quite honestly, the energetic colorway that featured aqua and hot orange gradients sprinkled with black confetti would look good on any model, but with Mids arguably being a ‘hotter’ commodity, a Nike LeBron 8 ‘Flamingo’ in this Mid build for could’ve rivaled that year’s South Beach as the valedictorian of that class. Of course, these Look-See samples are still up for grabs as long as you’re swimming in a pool of cash, so give these babies one more look after the jump and take the plunge by copping this sample pair from lilpennymagicfan on eBay.

Nike LeBron 8 ‘Bruce Lee’ Customs by Laptop LaSane

nike lebron 8 bruce lee customs summary Nike LeBron 8 Bruce Lee Customs by Laptop LaSane

The whole Bruce Lee theme is one that has been a distinctly Kobe thing for a while now, with plenty of silhouettes from the Black Mamba’s line borrowing the black and yellow pairing. We’ve seen one instance recently of that theme apparently bleeding over into the LeBron category with these Nike LeBron 9 Elites, a port that seems to have struck a chord with customizer Laptop LaSane. Here he brings the Game of Death colorway over onto the Nike LeBron 8, dipping an all white pair with the look and throwing in some red via the laces and down into the lining. Click through for the full photos of this custom and let us know if you’d cop the Nike LeBron 8 ‘Bruce Lee’ at retail. Photos: Paint or Thread

We don’t need to remind you that DJ Clark Kent‘s Nike LeBron game (as well as his connections over at Beaverton) are as strong as steel. He displayed his own personal collection of 1-of-1s, PEs, and Samples of the LeBron 8 before the darn shoe even launched, but in his most recent ‘PeepAndWeepWednesday’ submission, he told us that he’s still got the ‘Bron 8 on his mind. Here’s a look at a sample colorway of the Nike LeBron 8 in a ‘Knicks’ colorway that was first seen on display at Sneaker Pimps back in late 2010; it features a white leather upper with royal blue on the carbon fiber panels and the interior lining as well as an hot orange blaze on the swoosh border, outsole, Max Air unit, and other accents on the upper. Just yesterday, we showed you a ‘Knicks’ sample of the LeBron 8 V/2 on Jason Petrie’s office window – how do those compare to Clark’s V/1s?

Nike LeBron 8 ‘James Dean’ Denim – Available on eBay

March 19th, 2012 by | 5 comments

lebron 8 denim ebay jd 6 Nike LeBron 8 James Dean Denim Available on eBay

Is the LeBron 8 the magnus opus of the Nike LeBron line? The South Beach kicked things off (and stands as the most-coveted Nike LeBron release) and a plethora of ‘PE’ and ‘Friends & Family’ editions gave the shoe even more of a legend, like this James Dean-inspired LeBron 8 that DJ Clark Kent conjured up. Denim is seldom used on basketball shoes because of the obvious ‘lifestyle’ depiction that accompanies the material’s Americana fashion history, and the James Dean version has garnered some mixed reviews, but that leads us to wonder what a Nike LeBron 9 in denim and gum soles would look like. In any case, these rare LeBrons have popped up for sale once more, so check out this new set of images below and head to the listing from burbsense on eBay.

NIke LeBron 8 ‘Oreo’ Customs by ROM

nike lebron 8 oreo customs by rom 1 570x427 NIke LeBron 8 Oreo Customs by ROM

This year’s LeBron James signature from Nike Basketball hasn’t drawn as many color swap customs as the first of last year’s trio, and you know the Nike LeBron 8 is a favorite for sneaker artists when you see them pop up with a new rendition nearly a year after the debut.  The Eights aren’t old enough to be ready for any kind of retro run, so seeing this kind of longevity suggests we’re looking at a model that may emerge as historically significant for sticking around so long.  This new ‘Oreo’ LeBron 8 custom by Dunk specialist ROM for notable YouTube sneakerhead Dubstepslap415 departs from his typically intricate detailing, though you can see the attention paid to this simplest of high-contrast designs with the careful application of speckling on the midsole and Flywire panels.  Like his only other LeBron 8 customs, these are a 1 of 1 which is quite a bit smaller than the run of 2010 Air Jordan VIs upon which this design was based.  Let us know if you’d buy them when you click through to see more photos, and where they rank amongst ROM‘s own customs and the apparently still growing bounty of custom LeBron 8s.  via Hypemagnet

The hottest trend in sneaker customization lately has been appropriating colorways from other high profile releases.  The Nike LeBron 8 was particularly popular as a canvas for this kind of expression, colorways ranging from Air Jordan imitations to allusions to earlier LeBron standouts.  This latest example comes from a guy responsible for getting the first ‘Dunkman’ edition LeBron 8s out there, a custom job also borrowing from the Zoom LeBron IV ‘Graffiti’ in an exclusive story here on Sneaker News this March.  Conor Burns aka C4‘s Nike LeBron 8 BHM takes its inspiration from the latest round of Black History Month releases, their black and gold styling also a reminder of the Air Jordan Defining Moments Package.  So is this BHM/DMP LeBron 8 the best custom job we’ve seen on this model?  Click through for more images and leave a comment to let us know where they rank. via c4/UPandCOMING32 on NT.

Nike LeBron 8 ’112′ – Available on eBay

nike lebron 8 112 on ebay 09 Nike LeBron 8 112 Available on eBay

The only way the non-VIP public can get their hands on a pair of unreleased, Friends-and-Family LeBron PEs is if one of the original recipients inexplicably decides to let them go. We all know the Nike LeBron (particularly the Air Max-cushioned VII and current eighth model) were made a ton of ‘special edition’ colorways, like DJ Clark Kent’s ‘looks good on everything’ 112 motif. The luscious mix of black/grey tones with the piercing volt and the historic elephant print gives any shoe a proper facelift, but the unfortunate nature of these kicks is that these never did become available for purchase. That is, until now, when one lucky owner made the decision to pass on his prized possession to one sneakerhead willing to part ways with a fat wad of cash. The current bidding price eclipses even the unbelievable average selling price of the LeBron 8 ‘South Beach’ (but does look paltry compared to the tens of thousands of dollars that someone put on this Nike Mag 2011 shoe, but if you’re interested nonetheless, check out the auction from sellbuysellnow on eBay.
