It is with good reason that the period between mid-November and the end of each calendar year is commonly called the ‘holiday season’. So many of the world’s local cultures have contributed to a melange of occasions suitable for celebrating, and the one that starts off the annual spike in retail sales starts later this week in the United States. But even if coming together during the winter results in increased sales, getting the major sneaker brands to cooperate is a task on the order of creating world peace. So Foot Locker‘s ‘Black Pack’ for Black Friday not only launches the store’s Kicksmas celebration in earnest, but it also manages the ambitious coordination of releases from adidas Basketball, Jordan Brand, Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear. Dark colorways of the adidas adiZero Power Howard and adiZero Rose 2.0 join the Air Jordan III Retro ‘Black Cement’, Jordan 1 Flight in the same colorway, triple-black Nike LeBron 9s, Zoom Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse 2011s, the Total Air Foamposite Max also in black/anthracite, and John Wall’s Reebok Zig Encore. Last but not least is the ‘Binary Blue’ Zoom Rookie LWP, a model presumably included because it’s the darkest colorway on a model that has no ‘blackout’ edition (yet?). It’s a mouthful and enough to drain your wallet, and even if FL’s best wishes come true, it’s unlikely anyone will seek to complete this ‘pack’; so which ones are the must-haves?

Ready to empty your bank account? It’s that time of year with the holiday shopping mania right around the corner, and 2011 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet, by any measure. There’s a ton of heat hitting on Black Friday and the days to follow, but here’s one that’s taking the opposite approach and popping up on the other side of Turkey Day. The Nike LeBron 9 will hit on Wednesday, November 23rd in this ‘Blackout’ colorway, its plain pigmentation all but assuring a quick sellout. But if you plan on attending school for a half day or something else more important on Thanksgiving Eve, you might consider grabbing your ‘Blackout’ LeBron 9s right now from kicksmonstar2010 on eBay.

Nike Basketball has a penchant to get a bit creative with Nike LeBron colorways, but one you can continually bank on every year is the tonal-black ‘Blackout’ colorway. The LeBron 9 proves to be no exception to this unwritten rule, as we get another look at the upcoming release of the Black/Anthracite colorway that we first showed you not long ago. It’s clear that the LeBron signature has been conducive to wacky, high-energy colorways (and with Nike iD now on the on-deck circle), but the perennial ‘All-Black-Everything’ is one of the more popular ones for a reason. Expect these in stores on November 23rd (the day before Thanksgiving) and hit the jump for a detailed look.
