Imagine you had your hands on a raffle ticket entitling you to a super-deluxe special edition box carved to match the intricate sockliners on the Freegums x Nike LeBron 9, but had to take a BRB and missed your number being called, only to come back and see someone else leave with ‘your’ prize. That happened to some poor, unfortunate sneakerhead over the weekend in Miami, where Alvaro ‘Freegums’ Ilizarbe was on hand at Shoe Gallery to celebrate the drop of his first Nike collaboration. Soul-crushing timing fail notwithstanding, this was an event filled with smiling faces who’d come to see the wall of Freegums LeBron 9s and the similarly-styled wall upon which they were displayed, and you can see a video recap of the party by clicking on the jump below. via Stickie213

It’s not that easy to repeatedly shuffle around White, Black, and Red and create distinct colorways, but the LeBron 9 is rather conducive to that. With all these parts and sectionals that make up one large LeBron 9 upper, it’s actually quite easy to duplicate a colorway without redundancy, and the ‘Freegums’ x Nike LeBron 9 is one great example of that. It might be a bit similar to the ‘Scarface’/Home colorway, but what sets the Miami-artist designed special edition apart is that it uses intricate detailing on the white upper Hyperfuse shell and the inner-lining, designed by Freegums. Sneaker News was first to drop information on the local-artist collaboration, but now we’d like to add in some more information – a release date. The Nike LeBron 9 ‘Freegums’ will be available for purchase on New Year’s Eve, so plan accordingly and let us know if you are looking to add these to your growing LeBron 9 collection. Images via MS.

It’s not often an outside source is tapped to help detail and Nike LeBron 9 shoe – one that will actually release. Here’s yet another look at the upcoming Nike LeBron 9, featuring a interior lining designed by Miami-based artist ‘Freegums’; the White/Black primary colorway is actually akin to Freegums’ signature work, which relies heavily on the yin/yang theme and intricate lines and details seen on the exceptionally designed inner wallpaper. Hints of red are seen on the Nike LeBron logo on the laces as well as on the signature on the tongue and heel ‘spoiler’. More shots of these bad boys await you below, so take a look and let us know what you think. via airrandyhk.
