A Christmas colorway is an annual tradition for LeBron James’ Nike Basketball signature series and this year’s made an even bigger splash than normal because of the NBA’s Opening Day being pushed back until its holiday TV showcase. A snow-speckled Nike LeBron 9 ‘Christmas’ spoiled Dallas’ banner raising ceremony, but given how out of shape Dirk was at that point, it’s the LeBron 9 iD pictured above that turns out the more visually appealing rematch. Isaac Jiminez‘ ‘Christmas Flip’ LeBron 9 iD switches the red and green distribution from the released version for a much more tree-like appearance; would you like to see something like this from the Christmas Day LeBron 10? Jason Petrie Previews New Nike LeBron 9 iD Options

Not only did Jason Petrie design the Nike LeBron 9, but he’s also willing to share some great advice on how to customize your own pair on NIKEiD! The man at the helm of the Nike LeBron signature series for the past three years just tweeted out a bunch of designs he mocked up on the Swoosh’s online customization service, two of which offer different manifestations of the well-established ‘Dunkman’ motif. The combination of the likely Foamposite stability wing and speckling on the midsoles makes for some sick combinations, with the latter really opening up your colorblocking possibilities. Let us know which of Petrie’s three prototypes looks best and get ready for the LeBron 9 Limited iD’s new options on Tuesday.

Nike LeBron 9 iD – New Options Sneak Peek

Just a few days ago, Nike iD teased us with some new customizable options for the Nike LeBron 9, hinting at a possible Foamposite-like material on the upper. Here we have a first sneak peek at what might be in store for the Nike LeBron 9 iD, and it’s clear that there is in fact Foamposite or a similar material in place of the lightweight weave panel on the upper. Of course, this isn’t the first time Foamposite was used on a LeBron – that wonderful distinction goes to the Nike Zoom LeBron IV. Listen up, LeBron lovers! Nike’s been relatively quiet on the Valentine’s Day-themed sneaker front this year, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be gifted a tasty treat. Coming up on V-Day (the same day as the Air Jordan 2012 iD launch), NIKEiD will offer a series of new options on the Nike LeBron 9 Limited iD; what exactly will that mean? Right off the bat, the ‘Limited’ tag represents the potential for both a premium construction and small quantities available, but we’re all left wondering what kinds of things to expect next week. Should we read into the wavy texture on King James’ crown logo, or perhaps the Dunkman-esque palette on the graphic they tweeted? Nike LeBron 9 iD ‘Throw It Down’

What you see above is just part of what Nike iD is all about; It gives us the opportunity to create unforeseen colorways on sneaker models that we previously only imagined could occur. And when a colorway transfers so perfectly from one to another, it creates a visual masterpiece and fulfills a sneakerheads dream – just think back on the amazing results of the Zoom KD III ‘Entourage’ iDs. Of course, the hot Nike iD topic as of late is easily the Nike LeBron 9, and Sneaker News has been keeping you up to date with the best designs around; the ‘Super Flame‘, ‘Vancouver Canucks‘, and the ‘Taxi‘ were all great works, but this latest design by Sendo, inspired by the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Throw It Down’ PE made for Shannon Brown, might be the best we’ve seen yet. Every little detail is perfect (or as close to it as possible), with the White/Grey upper matching the red insole and blue/green midsole/outsole combination, and the concept behind the shoe is equally as impressive; the creator of this design calls on that 2010 Dunk Contest that featured Shannon Brown, with swirling rumors of LeBron joining the competition fueling the excitement. It’s a design like this one that’ll have us racing to Nike iD, testing our own abilities in creating these sick shoes. Nike LeBron 9 iD by Phase2

Whenever Sneaker News shows you something from Phase2′s collection, it’s always a piece of rare Air Jordan heat – likely a Player Exclusive or an unreleased sample. He’s got another 1-of-1 to show us – his Nike LeBron 9 iD design. It’s got a lot of a ‘Summit Lake Hornets’ vibe to it, and the metallic gold hints only push that New Orleans ‘Mardi Gras’ festive attitude. Phase2 comments on his Nike LeBron 9 iD design path by mentioning that he wasn’t completely satisfied with his designs at first, but fell in love with this colorway once the limited options on the Nike LeBron 9 iD went live. Nike LeBron 9 iD ‘Syracuse’ By Griffin Hoffman

The Syracuse Orange basketball team is recognized as one of the more sneaker-savvy bunches in the nation. If you’ve caught our NCAA Feet features, you would’ve noticed a multitude of Air Jordans and Nike Basketball joints, so you know these guys always bring their sneaker A-game (and A-game in general – they’re sitting pretty at an undefeated 7-0). Griffin Hoffman, Junior shooting guard of the Orange squad, just showed off his Nike LeBron 9 iD, designed after his school’s signature colors; it features an orange and navy blue upper contrasted well with a white midsole and laces.
