Anybody who caught the recent Dream Team documentary on TV has gotta be excited for the USA basketball squad to hit London this year. Sure we’re not expecting a group to ever match that level of greatness but hey, the 2012 team has some certified superstars. Front and center is LeBron James, whose footwear line is matching the occasion with this red, white, and blue Nike LeBron 9 Low. Will we see him switch to the lows for his Olympic activities? Though undoubtedly gruelling, there’s something about winning an NBA Championship that makes foregoing a restful vacation to play through an Olympic summer not so tiring after all. In the case of Kobe Bryant’s 2008, the surge from merely playing in that year’s Finals was enough to drive him through the gold medal redemption in China to another Finals appearance the following year and finally, that elusive Shaq-less fourth ring. Fast forward to 2012 and with his Miami Heat up 2-0 on the aging Boston Celtics (who can’t even make good on Rajon Rondo’s sudden elite jump), it’s easy to predict that LeBron James will find himself with similar factors in play, and this Nike LeBron 9 Low ‘USA’ is one of those designs that can keep up with you all summer. The possibility of this model becoming the summer’s standout signature increases with each Miami Heat win, but irrespective of whether King James captures his first crown, he’ll honor his commitment to USA Basketball when the Redeem Team defends its gold medal in London. The Nike LeBron 9 Low ‘USA’ gives us a hint at what to expect from LeBron when he suits up for the 2012 Summer Games, though this lowcut design will likely make more of an impact in the streets than at the Olympics. The Nike LeBron series’ lowtop releases have been a summertime staple for nearly a decade, and you’d be hard pressed to find a colorway that better represents the warm part of 2012 than the one pictured above. This Nike LeBron 9 Low comes with red and navy accents on its white base to signify the LeBron’s commitment to USA Basketball. LeBron didn’t quit after the 2004 Athens debacle, he doesn’t want to get paid like Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade and he even went so far as to say that it’s the pride of representing the Stars and Stripes that motivates him to give up a summer vacation. It remains to be seen if ‘Bron will show up in London with a USAB LeBron 9 Elite, but we have seen the Zoom Soldier VI (as well as a significantly different sample of this silo) in these same colors; which 2012 LeBron sig better handles this patriotic style? Earlier today Sneaker News gave you additional angles of the Summer 2012 releasing Nike LeBron 9 Low, which features a 360-degree Max Air unit instead of the Zoom/Max combo unit as well as a full Hyperfuse hyper (no carbon-fiber weave). In addition to providing some actual shots of the shoe, we gave you a look at four upcoming high-energy colorways, which featured a mix of neon-esque colorways like Bright Turquoise and Mint Candy. Here’s one that’s more fitting of a classic All-American theme – a White/Navy/Red that would likely release around the Fourth of July holiday. Much like the Nike LeBron 8 Veteran’s Day, this upcoming colorway of the LeBron 9 Low celebrates the nation’s roots using colors from the flag, using a contrasting red on the forefoot Flywire and midfoot ‘wing’ embedded below the Hyperfuse mesh.
