Nike’s recent ‘Basketball Never Stops’ video shows that not only is roundball now a global game that cannot be stopped by the ongoing labor dispute here in the States, but that perhaps the Swoosh is more integral to the game itself than the league known for its Jerry West logo. Only a brand like Nike Basketball can make the tagline true thanks to a range of releases that extends beyond the traditional NBA team colorways, looks that have become the most popular in the Nike LeBron series over the past few years. So even if King James hasn’t been seen in a Miami Heat uniform since losing to Dallas in the 2011 Finals, there’s still going to be a ton of attention paid to his signature sneakers done up in MIA-inspired colorways. The Nike LeBron 9 ‘Miami Nights’ is something less than a true sequel to the ‘South Beach’ 8s thanks to the presence of the vibrant ‘Cannon’ edition and its ties to Eglin Air Force Base, but their representation of South Florida’s electric nightlife is sure to be an equally swift seller. Around the time of early-November, we typically expect tip-off of the opening games of the NBA Season. That’s far from a reality right now, with no deal set in places between the owners and the players. However, NBA stars have been participating in an un-official tour of exhibition games, with big names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul getting in some minutes. LeBron James has been using these games as a platform to introduce his LeBron 9, as he wore the ‘Cannon’ and the ‘Ohio State’ colorways during the most recent outings. When will he wear the ‘Miami Nights‘? Perhaps during the upcoming world tour? While we haven’t seen these on his feet just yet, you can grab them for good when they hit stores officially on November 4th 2011. Is your inner Bart Scott coming out and you just ‘can’t wait’? Nike LeBron 9 designer Jason Petrie recently confirmed this Cool Grey/Cherry colorway of the LeBron 9 to be this year’s high-energy ‘Miami Nights’ installment. These are clearly a lot more subtle than the LeBron 8 V/2 Low ‘Miami Nights’, but convey the same message; Miami Nights are about parties. The Dark Grey/Black combo is a clear signature of night-time, which the Cherry and Purple point to the dazzling night-club colors (all you need is a bottle of your favorite spirits to get the night started). The ‘Miami Nights’ is currently set for a release on November 4th, but some LeBron accounts like Millenium Shoes has their stock in early, so check out these new shots of this upcoming release below and let us know if you like this subtler ‘Miami Nights’ over the previous version.

Jason Petrie has been one of the more community-involved Nike designers in recent memory. They guy loves his craft, and more importantly, loves to discuss his role in creating the most advanced basketball shoe Nike has to offer. He recently made himself available for a lengthy online video chat, answering questions directly from Nike LeBron fans. In addition to providing some poignant responses to some great questions regarding the shoe’s performance and comfort as well as LeBron’s involvement in the process, Jason Petrie showed off a few unreleased Nike LeBron 9 colorways, like the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Kentucky’ and the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Miami Nights’, which Sneaker News gave you a first look at. Also featured during the chat session were a few preliminary samples, like the Z-Core sample ,which Petrie describes as the first step in materialization of the shoe, and a full-length 360-Air sample.
