The Nike LeBron 9 is the ninth sneaker in the Nike LeBron signature line. The LeBron 9 was designed by Jason Petrie and comes in three versions: LeBron 9, LeBron 9 P.S. Elite, and LeBron 9 Low. The Nike LeBron 9 released in overseas on October 1st, 2011 in the China colorway, and worldwide on October 25th, 2011 in the Black/Red colorway. With a shoe as wildly constructed like the What The LeBrons, it’s all in the details. We’re not talking about the Galaxy lining or the Watch The Throne laces, but some of the lesser known features of the shoe that we can’t help but point out. For one, the inner production tag on the shoes mark these as a Holiday 2011 sample, which is when the LeBron 9 first launched. However, the insoles feature the MVP Trophy logos, detailing LeBron’s three awards in 2009, 2010, and 2012. How does that timing work out? Or did Nike boldly predict that LeBron would bounce back and win the MVP again? The Nike LeBron 9 isn’t new to the military theme – in fact, one of the earliest releases and among the most popular of the LeBron 9 cycle is the ‘Cannon’ colorway, which was inspired by a military base where the Miami Heat did their offseason training. Is the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Championship/MVP’ Pack’ the most coveted LeBron release (note: this doesn’t include PEs and samples) of all-time? The first ever two-pair Pack release bearing LeBron’s name dropped last Summer after LeBron cemented his name among the all-time greats by winning his first ‘chip and third overall League MVP, and the value of these bad boys has steadily risen over the last few months. A Nike LeBron X Pack bearing the same name is very likely considering the Heat are playing at a high level thanks to LeBron’s undeniable MVP-level performances, and if it does boil down to that result, we can’t wait to see what Nike has in store. Will any ‘Pack’ release top the 2012 All-Star Collection? The 2013 Pack is a worthy effort, but the ‘Galaxy’ still reigns supreme as it introduced a whole new set of concepts for basketball shoes in terms of graphic options, colorways, and the sheer abuse of details. In China, during the “Battle of Guangzhou” event, Nike Basketball released a super-limited edition Nike 2012 All-Star Galaxy Pack that included all three shoes, an incredible three-tiered box, and a gold hangtag that individually numbered all fifteen units. The Nike LeBron 9 has long since ended its retail lifecycle, but the sneaker continues to pop up in various unreleased editions that the public has never before caught wind of. LeBron himself recently donned one such pair, an orange and black version that is unfortunately pretty obscured by his pants in this sole shot. The purveyor of one of the most unique sneaker collectibles continues his series with the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Summit Lake Hornets’. Freehand Profit, who has made quite the name for himself for his reconstituted sneakers, dabbles with the LeBron 9 for the first time, and although he completed this project months ago, he’s decided to patiently wait to unveil this masterpiece. The Nike LeBron 9 ended its life with quite a few coveted colorways left on the cutting room floor, with the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Watch the Throne’ no doubt near the top of most folks most-wanted list in that regard. The distribution for the sneaker seemed to be a sort of friends and family affair as only LeBron and a couple close friends (included those that make up ‘The Throne’) were blessed with pairs.
