While the Nike LeBron 10 wrapped up the season with another championship added to LeBron’s trophy case and the LeBron 11 has fans itching for an October release with it’s new Armorposite upper, we can’t forget about the shoe LBJ donned for his first taste of redemption en route to his championship in the Nike LeBron 9 Elite. Today we get a good look at three rare samples of the sneaker, two of which were based on regular LeBron 9 releases in the “Cannon” and “China” editions. The standout here though is that all volt ‘Dunkman’ edition with the only shades of black hitting on the carbon fiber side panel, but all three of them together in one set? That’s pretty impressive.. Look below to get a better look at these rare samples and bid on them today from fsu52283 on eBay.

Nike LeBron Black Collection Display at Nike WHQ

nike lebron black collection display whq Nike LeBron Black Collection Display at Nike WHQ

LeBron James spent some time on August 13th traversing the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR by foot and by bicycle, making some pit-stops at a LeBron sand sculpture (yes, the Portland area has sand) and an interesting display inside the WHQ walls. Ten years of Nike LeBron greatness were up for viewing, with each of LBJ’s signature models individually encased along a straight line makeshifting a metaphorical road to the Nike LeBron 11. The entire set was in an all-black format – some of which we’ve seen before, some not at all, but all amazing. With two NBA Titles, two Olympic Gold Medals, four NBA MVPs, and a Dunk Contest Trophy already under the man’s belt, it seems timely for Nike to embark on a LeBron retrospective of some sort, and we can most certainly expect a story-line with the debut of the LeBron 11.

Like it or not, this interesting display brings us back yet again to the topic of the Nike LeBron Retro. If you compare the trajectory of the Air Jordan and the Nike LeBron, you’d realize that the two could not be more different. Air Jordans made their Retro debut in 1994 when MJ was thought to be done with the game, while LeBron James has shown zero signs of desire to hang ‘em up earlier than usual. More importantly, the Air Jordan line was all about sleek and stylish design opposed to the Nike LeBron, which is revered for its robust innovative upgrades like Dynamic Flywire, Hyperfuse, full-length Zoom and much, much more. ┬áSo while it would be nice for Nike to celebrate ten years of LeBron in some way, is a bringback of the early models – namely the Air Zoom Generation that LeBron himself wore just a few days ago – the way to do it? There’s more to come for sure, so check out the video that LeBron James himself took for his IG followers and let us know what your expectations are for a LeBron Retro movement.

It’s a Celebration: A Look Back at Significant Sneaker Packs

sneaker packs lebron jordan Its a Celebration: A Look Back at Significant Sneaker Packs

Sneaker Packs – certainly a gift, and unfortunately a curse. We’re talking about all the releases comprised of two must-have sneakers attached together by an oversized box and slyly priced higher than if the shoes were individually released, but as they say, a sum is larger than its parts. This weekend’s coveted sneaker release by Nike – specifically the Nike LeBron Championship aka Celebration Pack – will be priced at a whopping $500, totaling up to the single most expensive sneaker pack release ever put together by Nike or Jordan Brand. Regardless of the price, you’d better believe that droves of LeBron fans will do what it takes to get their hands on a set (based on Foot Locker and Nike’s release procedure, it’ll be all luck), but there really was a time when you could walk into a store and pick ‘em up without much of a hassle.

If Nike can package together LeBron sneakers, why shouldn’t custom creators do the same? That’s the route taken here by District Customs, who whipped up two Nike LeBron 9 pairs as a tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof flick from back in 2007. The two sneakers included were painted to match those of Kim and Stuntman Mike from the film, but the special treatment doesn’t end there. There’s also engraved hangtags and and upholstered box with a supreme wooden outer shell. Continue reading to see the Nike LeBron 9 and the Nike LeBron 9 Elite that constitute the Nike LeBron 9 “Death Proof” Pack by District Customs and tell us how they make you feel down in the comments.

While the Jordan Brand athletes head out to China and Kobe enjoys some downtime in Europe, LeBron James and Nike has decided to hit up the Philippines for a special “Witness History” Tour, which features some cool in-store events as well as some live demos of the King on a basketball court. His time out there has already resulted in a couple of killer sneaker exhibits, including that set of incredible customs and this, a collection of player exclusives and rare pairs from King James’ career (definitely some gems in here, most of which can be seen in Justin Amazing’s collection). Starting all the way back at the Nike Air Zoom Generation, the display includes hard to track down fare like the Nike Zoom LeBron IV “Fruity Pebbles”, the “Denim” Nike LeBron 8, and the not-quite-player-exclusive Nike LeBron X “MVP”. See the sneakers after the jump and let us know if you own any of these rare LeBrons, and stay tuned for more recaps from Nike and Jordan Brand’s plans overseas.

What exactly is a Leopracheebra? Apparently that’s what you get when you cross a leopard, a cheetah, and a zebra. District Customs decided to mash those three beasts together, slapping the results onto this Nike LeBron 9 custom. The shoe actually doesn’t even come across as too terrible busy despite using three different animal prints, as the patterns in place fade into each other in a pretty subtle way. Continue reading for the full images on the Nike LeBron 9 “Leopracheebra” by District Customs and let us know if you’d be happy to see this sort of print hit on the NIKE iD side of LeBron’s line sometime in the future.
