The Nike LeBron 9 is the ninth sneaker in the Nike LeBron signature line. The LeBron 9 was designed by Jason Petrie and comes in three versions: LeBron 9, LeBron 9 P.S. Elite, and LeBron 9 Low. The Nike LeBron 9 released in overseas on October 1st, 2011 in the China colorway, and worldwide on October 25th, 2011 in the Black/Red colorway. Just yesterday, Sneaker News unveiled to you the Nike LeBron 9 Championship Pack – a very limited two-pair unit that serves as a tribute to LeBron’s MVP and Championship accomplishments this season. The Pack pretty much encapsulates the entire LeBron 9 story, with the regular and Elite colored up in some exciting Miami Heat-specific colorways (the MVP has a sick gradient-like effect seen in previous high-energy releases). Of course, getting your hands on the Championship Pack will be tough duty, as only a select number of retailers in North America and China will receive them (UNKNWN in Miami already confirmed their own release), so let us know if you have any hope in obtaining this limited affair!

If you think the Nike LeBron signature line has ‘peaked’ in popularity and demand, think again. Winning a Championship is a true ticket to the ‘next level’ of status, and while the LeBron releases of the last few years have been outstanding at the very least, get ready for Nike and its team of special-edition experts to up the ante. Kicking things off for the ‘new era’ of LeBron sneakers is the Nike LeBron 9 Championship Pack – a massive two-set release featuring the Nike LeBron 9 ‘MVP‘ and the Red/Black colorway of the Nike LeBron 9 Elite ‘Championship’ (a PE that LeBron wore for Game 1 of the 2012 NBA Finals). This two-Pack set of LeBrons is set to release in very limited quantities Saturday, August 11th in a unique double-wide box with ‘Earned, not Given’ printed below the LJ logo. These will be available at select Nike Basketball retailers in North America and in China (not just in Miami as previously reported), so enjoy this gallery of images below and let us know which of the two versions are better, and fill us in with your opinions on just how much more popular LeBrons will be now that he’s a confirmed Champion.

Fresh off the heels of the amazing “Wounder Warrior Project” custom LeBron 9s, Mache Customs hits us with yet another LBJ custom paying homage to Batman – otherwise known as The Dark Knight. Using the ‘Cool Grey’ as the base, Mache Customs displays his broadened artistic scope with the overlaying colors creating a sick 3D-like effect, as the upper design was set to mimic the sharp folds of Batman’s cape. Finishing off the custom is the Batman symbol on the medial heels of the shoe, with the Mache insignia sharing the spotlight on the right shoe. Need these in your collection? LeBron James will remember June 21, 2012 as a “golden moment” of his career – his first ever NBA Championship. It was the perfect storm of accolades, as LeBron not only won the golden trophy, but was awarded the trophy of League MVP. Nike Basketball will celebrate his achievements with what appears to be a very limited release of the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Championship Pack’, which at this point looks like two distinct pairs of the LeBron 9. We’ve already shown you the MVP version, but the Championship version is yet to be revealed, but keep in mind that LeBron’s retail side-project UNKNWN in Miami will release the LeBron 9 ‘Championship Pack’ this Saturday, August 11th, with a raffle-style release beginning tomorrow. A ‘Year of the Dragon’ custom of the LeBron 9 has yet to be seen, although the first release of the ninth shoe was in fact a ‘Dragon’ homage in the form of the Blue Flame. Here we have another rendition of ‘Dragon’ as sneaker customizer Proof Culture throws in an array of China-specific details like the gold/red lettering on the heel-tab, the dragon logo on the tongue, the dragon scale detailing on the mid-foot wing, and jade green colorized upper. It’s great to see customizers use the LeBron 9 as the go-to model, so let’s hope more bangers like these surface as we send off the LeBron 9 in perfect fashion! Photos: paintorthread

Todd McFarlane’s signature character has typically been depicted in a black suit with red cape, but along with the Spawn logo, this resurrected assassin is often outlined in green tones that often explode from the page. Custom sneaker king Mache might not be a household name on the level of the Image Comics co-founder, but sneakerheads know this guy is quite the artist in his own right. Following up on several other standouts on what’s gotta be his current favorite model at the moment, the Nike LeBron 9 ’Spawn’ customs add a whole ‘nother dimension to the familiar ‘Dunkman’ superhero style. Mache’s stock is continues its steady climb as we get a look at his latest custom work made for the Wounded Warrior Project, a charitable organization developed to honor and empower those wounded in the line of duty. Mache was commissioned directly by the Wounded Warrior Project to make a pair of custom LeBron 9s inspired by a warhawk-style plane, as seen here by the sharks-teeth at the toe and the rivets that fasten the metal sheets in place. This project was close to Mache’s heart as his own father was a Wounded Warrior, but the sheer effort and artistry put into this custom work shows that Mache gave his most inspired effort to complete this custom. The Nike LeBron 9 ‘Wounder Warrior Project’ will be a one-of-one custom and will only be available at the Rhode Island Sneaker Xchange on September 2nd, where the shoes will be raffled off. A certain treat for fans of the LeBron, of Mache’s work, and members of the U.S. Armed Forces, so check out the gallery below and let us know where these rank among Mache Customs‘ best work.
