For better or worse, 2012 was a defining year for the sneaker world and all that it encompasses. It was a year that saw certain shoes throw the laws of supply and demand so out of whack, that brands and retailers had to completely rethink the way they sell shoes to the public just to keep the peace. If you were willing to put in some legwork or, better yet, had the right connections, it was a banner year for sneaker enthusiasts. “Must-have” releases seemed to be at an all-time high and nearly every weekend offered up some sort of temptation for consumers. 2012 saw the release of some of the most eagerly anticipated and passionately sought-after sneakers the game had ever seen and it’s safe to say that things will never be the same again.
In between those, there were plenty of other desirable targets along the way, from the special limited editions and collaborations to beloved Retro returns and promising new designs and innovations. There were even a few certified sleeper hits that organically carved out their place among the year’s best releases. Due to an exponentially expanding consumer base and a heightened level of product awareness, you might not have been able to get your hands on every shoe you hunted for in 2012, but there was certainly no shortage of solid alternatives ripe for the picking in their absence.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2012 has yet another explosive colorway in the works, the pair pictured here perhaps registering as the brightest we’ve seen yet for this futuristic sneaker. The color selected is atomic green, a rather appropriate moniker given the almost radioactive glow eminating from the upper. Beyond that there are bits of black locking the design down, a blocking that’s shown up on a handful of other recent Nike Lunar Hyperdunk pairs. Stay with Sneaker News after the jump to see more, and if you want to buy your pair then you can do so now at Nikestore.

Is “Mache” short for “Machine”? Just a couple of days ago, Mache hit us with an incredible ‘Evolution of Nerf’ custom of the LeBron X, giving ‘Nerf’ an alternate spin on one of the trendiest sneaker models right now. But enough with the LeBron X for now and onto a surely underrated Nike Basketball model – the Lunar Hyperdunk+; Mache gives it a ‘Scooby Doo’ treatment, colorizing the shoes after the Mystery Machine van that the Scooby Doo gang travels around in. Again, nothing but an outstanding result from Mache Customs, so check out the images below and hit up Mache directly to get your own customs done!

Basketball is back! Sneaker News already gave you the low-down the LeBron’s ‘Gold’ PE, Rajon’s Pink Foams, and Ray’s Air Jordan XVI PE, but what about the rest? Only three games went down, but there was plenty to cover; Dwyane Wade debuted the Li-Ning Way of Wade ‘Dynasty’, while Kobe rocked the Court Purple/University Gold Kobe VII in a losing effort against the Mavericks. His teammate Steve Nash wore the Lunar Hypergamer Low, and Dwight wore the adiPower Howard 3 in a Lakers colorway. In match-up between up-and-coming Cleveland and Washington, Jordan Crawford of the Wizards didn’t miss a beat from last season and wore the Air Jordan XI Low. Kyrie Irving got down with the Lunar Hyperdunk PE. A complete look at the first night of 2012-2013 NBA Season is right ahead, so take a look!

Usually when a red and green sneaker drops this close to the holiday season we’d be quick to peg it as a Christmas pair, but that just doesn’t seem right when looking at this new Nike Lunar Hyperunk+ colorway. The green included isn’t your typical deck-the-halls tone, instead coming in an eye popping atomic look-plus there’s the heavy bits of black ruling out any sort of Santa Clause colorway. Click through with us to check out this Nike Lunar Hyperdunk and it you like what you see then be advised that mita out in Japan already has there’s in stock.

The Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+ is poised to go down as a historic sneaker release even if it might not have the immediate star power of the Nike Basketball ‘Big Three’ of signature sneakers. After all, it was the first one to introduce the Nike+ technology to a basketball silhouette, breaking new ground for that stat tracking upgrade in the world of hooping shoes. The latest colorway we’ve got a look at for the silo is this, a game royal/atomic green/black combo that brings in a particular pop for the exposed Flywire supports. Flip through the photos after the jump for a full look and keep in mind that Japanese footwear institution mita already has em.

The tenth LeBron James signature just showed us how a red and green colorup looks when combined with Dynamic Flywire, but the latest Nike Basketball release proves that seasonal color scheme doesn’t have to be a Kris Kringle PE. The Nike Hyperdunk X (outdoor edition) goes a different route with its University Red and Atomic Green combo, ending up with a more radioactive look (or perhaps it’s a humble ‘Firecracker’ as in the OG Reebok Insta Pump Fury). These aren’t Nike+ equipped but ride an eXtra Durable Rubber outsole for those looking to harness its radiant energy for continued outdoor balling, and you’ll find them available now at Kicks-crew.

Warriors Forward David Lee won’t be exclusive to the Hyperposite – he’ll be rocking the Lunar Hyperdunkn 2012 as well! The long-time Nike Basketball athlete just showed off another bit of his 2012-2013 footwear rotation – his ‘Away’-based colorway with a Black upper with Yellow Dynamic Flywire, Royal Blue on the outsole, and a ‘DLEE’ logo on the tongue. Will this double-double machine be the anchor for the young Warriors squad and perhaps bring back some of that ’07 magic? Check out Lee’s kicks below and let us know if you prefer these over the Hyperposites.
