Nike Lunar Hypergamer – New Colorways

February 2nd, 2012 by | No comments

nike lunar hypergamer 1 570x379 Nike Lunar Hypergamer New Colorways

While the rest of Nike Basketball’s Hyper- offerings have taken over the market, even to the extent that the new Hyperenforcer is now available on NIKEiD, the above pictured model has been almost forgotten.  The Nike Lunar Hypergamer appeared to offer a LunarLon-cushioned alternative to the Zoom Hyperfuse series, but we’ve not seen it since the Tony Parker PE that popped up back when the NBA season typically kicks off.  Particularly good news, then, to see two new Lunar Hypergamers pop up out of nowhere, both navy/white and bred palettes manifesting on the same blocking pattern.  The Swooshes on these have a similar kind of gridded Hyperfuse that showed up on a recent Zoom KD IV sample, which begs the question: how will this nearly overlooked design compete against the Swoosh’s established hits?  Let us know what you think when you click through for more angles and be on the lookout for these pairs soon.  via SM

Nike Lunar Hypergamer – Tony Parker San Antonio Spurs PE

Not only is it the first release from Nike Basketball to combine a Hyperfuse upper with full-length LunarLon cushioning, but the Nike Lunar Hypergamer is also bringing some novel approaches to colorway design to the table. Now, to be completely objective, the Lunar Hypergamer isn’t the first basketball shoe to apply a camouflage print to its uppers, but applying this extra texture to NBA team colors is something we haven’t seen from even the Zoom Kobe VI. This latest model is the most subtle yet, its tonal black ‘camo’ an unassuming link to San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker. See more of TP’s latest PEs in more images after the jump and then pick up a pair directly from NikeStore.

Nike Lunar Hypergamer ‘Camo’ Pack

October 14th, 2011 by | 5 comments

nike lunar hypergamer camo pack 1 570x427 Nike Lunar Hypergamer Camo Pack

Though we saw more traditional colorways as the initial impression, chances are, your first memory of the Nike Lunar Hypergamer was from the unique camoutflage pairs that popped up late this summer.  Whereas the Zoom Kobe VI ‘Camo’ releases could be seen as an extension of the variety of textures based in that shoe’s snake-scaled upper, the Hypergamer feels even further out of bounds thanks to classic four-color camo prints in a range of different palettes.  Each of the pairs that just released at Tokyo’s Nike Harajuku can be seen as insipred by an NBA team’s uniforms, so click through to see the Celtics, Knicks, Bulls and Lakers in more images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release dates.

Nike Lunar Hypergamer – Four New Colorways

nike lunar hypergamer 7 570x381 Nike Lunar Hypergamer Four New Colorways

Nike’s Lunar foam cushioning platform debuted during the huge Olympic push of 2008 alongside Flywire on the original Zoom Hyperdunk, but it’s taken three generations to get LunarLon just right to stand alone as the sole, well, sole stuff, for one of Nike Basketball’s performance releases.  And there’s no Flywire on these, but a super-breathable featherweight Hyperfuse upper means the Nike Lunar HyperGamer will be able to compete with the Swoosh’s top two non-signature series.  Here’s a look at the Lunar HyperGamer in four new colorways, a set that’s done half in Oklahoma City Thunder colorways, perhaps foreshadowing sneaker journeyman Russell Westbrook’s adoption of the model when the NBA season finally begins.  There’s also one you’d call out for being a Sacramento Kings colorup along with one classic ‘Blackout’ look, so click through to see ‘em all, let us know how they rank and stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates.  via Kenlu

By this point we’ve come to expect athletes, celebrities and other well connected individuals to have early release and exclusive sneakers before the general population.  But on another level entirely is Brooklyn’s DJ Clark Kent, a guy who’s not shy about showing off samples, rare player exclusives and his own ’112 Pack’ creations.  His latest showoff is a never before seen NY Knicks-style colorway on the Nike Lunar Hypergamer, a model that itself was never seen by the public before this week.  DJCK’s Hypergamers utilize the same camo print upper that we saw on the  very first pair; how do they compare to the solid blue joints we showed you yesterday?  Click through to see more and leave a comment to let us know what you think, then be sure to check back with Sneaker News for the Nike Lunar Hypergamer release date.

nike lunar hypergamer black treasure blue summary Nike Lunar Hypergamer Black Treasure Blue

The Nike Hyperdunk debuted in summer 2008 as the first basketball shoe to utilize Flywire and Lunar foam, and we’ve seen both applied to almost everything imaginable in the intervening three years.  Lunarlite shifted to LunarLon and that lightweight cushioning has been popping up in everything from running to skateboarding sneakers this year and now we have the first Nike Basketball release with a full-length LunarLon sole.  No Flywire here, but take a gander at the Nike Lunar Hypergamer, a combination of Hyperfuse and LunarLon that’s gotta be among the lightest basketball shoes on the market.  Click through to see more of this black and Treasure Blue colorway, let us know what you think of the new Lunar Hypergamer and stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates.  via sevens
