Furthering the sense that the original Presto’s cage was the first inkling of what was to come with (Dynamic) Flywire is this latest release from Nike Sportswear. The Nike Lunar Presto combines the classic Alpha Project DNA with a LunarLon cushion and DF cables for a look that reminds you something like the Free Powerlines+ series might not exist (at least in the same way) were it not for the groundbreaking Presto. Each of the first two colorways has a slick mix of wearability and high energy accents, so decide which is your favorite with the aid of more images below, then grab yours at NSW retailers like Extra Butter.

We’ve seen Nike Sportswear redo classic runners in all manner of updates and hybrids over the past few years. Perhaps the most enduring element from the turn of the century Nike Alpha Project is the Air Presto exoskeleton that can be seen as a foreshadow to the Flywire technology that permeates the modern Swoosh catalog. That original version was quiet after about the halfway point of last year, but in light of this upcoming delivery, that respite can be seen as preparation for a new release. The Nike Lunar Presto makes good on the connections between the OG lace cage and modern Dynamic Flywire, opting for a LunarLon-cushioned build update that borrows from the Powerlines series for a thoroughly fresh look. Check out the first two colorways up close below, let us know which you prefer and stick with Sneaker News as we approach the Lunar Presto’s March 2013 debut.

One of the crown jewels of the Nike Alpha Project is this sock-like neoprene-shelled runner called the Air Presto. One of Nike’s best combinations of lightweight, style, function, and quirkiness, the Air Presto is often considered to be one of Nike’s best running shoe designs of all-time, or at the very least, one of the most memorable. For 2013 the Presto will come re-packaged with Lunar cushioning, as these early catalog images reveal Lunar on the heel for that added comfort. Additional changes arrive in the stabilizing cables at the heel as well as on the lace-harness, and unique dotted detailing that flow down from the laces to the midsole. Four colorways are available for preview, so take a look and let us know what you think.
