LunarLon has played a key role in the Nike Skateboarding P-Rod line over the past three years, and on no model is that more evident than this overt expression of the technology as seen on Nike Running releases. The Nike Lunar Rod shows up in a new makeup today, a subtly vibrant mix that sandwiches Medium Grey in Bright Citrus and an equally vivid blue shade. The overall design is somewhere between the Safari-printed debut and the subtler recent colorways; let us know how they compare after seeing more below, then grab yours straight from NikeStore.

Eric Koston is no doubt the Nike SB rider with the most buzz as of late on these pages, but hopefully you haven’t let Paul Rodriguez’s footwear output slip from your mind. If so we’re here to remind you of the ever-so-solid silhouette that is the Nike Lunar Rod. The sneaker picks up on a black and red combination that we’d assume has something to do with P-Rod’s MJ obsession, as well a couple of gridded, mesh looking sections on the upper that point to the SB line’s constant homage to Nike’s history of runners. See more on the Nike Lunar Rod right after the jump and grab yours from Premier.

Things have been just a little quiet on the Nike Lunar Rod front for the past couple of months. The last time we gave you a look at the sneaker was right before the winter months hit in the form of this rather muted colorway. Foreshadowing the arrival of spring is something from the opposite end of the spectrum-the Nike Lunar Rod ‘Crystal Mint’. The suede sneaker sports that minty tone nearly all over its upper, breaking just a bit for the side Swoosh. Get the full shots after the jump and pick up this Nike Lunar Rod colorway right now from the guys at Premier.

The introduction of Lunar cushioning to Nike Skateboarding products was marked as a significant event in the Nike SB timeline, with models like the Koston One and P-Rod VI using the foam-based cushion in a discreet manner. The Lunar Rod, however, goes ham with the material with the unabashed full-Lunar outsole seen on the LunarGlide 4+; after the ‘Safari’ version of the Nike Lunar Rod hit stores some time ago with much attention and fanfare, some general-release colorways are quietly surfacing at Nike Action Sports retailers. Peep this Black/Grey/White colorway after the jump and cop a pair now at Premier.

The introduction of Lunar to the Nike SB line of performance footwear was first introduced with the Eric Koston pro model and quickly picked up by the P Rod line, but the Lunar Rod is definitely the first with this complete transplant of midsoles. Are these skate-ready? Perhaps, considering the upper is the same as that of the P-Rod VI, but there’s no question that these will be satisfactory for running as well. Designed by P-Rod’s own Primitive skate-shop with ‘Safari’ in mind, these Lunar Rods have quickly become the subject of desire from SB and Nike Running fans; the good news is that European skateshops like Railslide are beginning to stock these, so check out the new images below and we’ll give you a heads up when these begin hitting more U.S. shops.

The whole Nike Lunar technology isn’t exactly something you associate with the word primitive is it? We didn’t think so, but throw a capital ‘p’ on that adjective and things change, with that being the moniker of Nike SB team rider Paul Rodriguez’s retail spot, a spot which is cooking up quite the collab on his latest Lunar shoe. The Primitive x Nike Lunar Rod, currently scheduled for an October release, borrows the classic safari palette from the Swoosh catalog, apparently inspired by an Air Max 1 iteration of the look rather than the ’87 original. During our interview with Nike Action Sports athlete Paul Rodriguez, he mentioned the immediate impact in comfort and cushion with the use of Nike Lunar technology on his signature skate shoes. Since then, the P-Rod pro-model has utilized the lightweight cushion as the primary source of support, but it’s this shoe, the Nike Lunar Rod, that takes P-Rod x Lunar to the next level. Using the double-layered LunarLon foundation seen on the LunarGlide+ 4, the Lunar Rod combines the comfort of running with the durability of a skate shoe, and this first look at what appears to be a collaborative design with Primitive LA (owned by P-Rod) reveals the trendy safari print on the heel and Huarache-esque heel-clip in a OG Safari-like colorway. No word on a solid release date, but we do know that the Lunar Rod in general is slated for a release beginning this October, so check out another shot of this unique release and we’ll keep you updated.

When you consider something like the Jordan CMFT series’ place in the sneaker world, it’s somewhat ironic that a casually oriented running hybrid would foreshadow a major shift in the flagship line. But that’s exactly what’s happened to noted Jordanhead and Nike SB alum Paul Rodriguez, whose sixth Swoosh signature sneaker has switched to LunarLon cushioning following five straight Zoom-cushioned efforts. We can now look back and see the P-Rod V Lunar Hyperstrike as foreshadowing the shift, so maybe we can take this new Nike Paul Rodriguez 6 Lunar Rod as a sign that a seventh is forthcoming. The second such design crystallizes the LunarRod line as a P-Rod silhouette redone with a pronounced LunarLon platform, and this pair mixing Crystal Mint suede with white accents has serious style to boot.
