The latest LunarGlide 4 arrives in what’s become a go-to look for Nike Running with Electric Green dominating the upper in a style not totally dissimilar to how the Swoosh stole the screen during this summer’s London Games. Much attention has been given to the marriage between Nike Basketball and Sportswear that’s incubating the impressive ‘Cork’ LeBron X, and rightfully so. But NSW reaching across the Beaverton campus to put its luxurious lifestyle twist on modern performance models got its start with the Running division, and here we see one of its current foundations meet up with premium leather styling. The Nike LunarGlide+ 4 NSW still has Nike+ integration, Dynamic Flywire and the featherweight, super-comfortable LunarLon cushioning platform, but these slat-perfed leather styles are quite clearly intended as a means for translating those tech specs into a casual package. Nike already applied the Shield Collection touch to the usual suspects for a new pack of weather-proof runners for the holiday season, and now we see the Swoosh take stock of the fact that the sky nastiness will continue for several more months and we want more color options. Enter the ‘Bright Crimson’ Shield Collection, an accomplished quartet of cutting-edge running models whose coloring is roughly reversed from the above mentioned HO12 drops, opting for red up top and a soft grey midsole to match the Vintage Box-ish tongue tag. Nike is no stranger to cooking up running models around specific events, classic silos like the Nike Air Tailwind and the Nike Air Huarache having been introduced at marathons around the world. The latest in that time honored tradition is not an all new silhouette, but rather some special colorways of the Nike LunarGlide+ 4, both pairs done up by Chicago area artist Cody Hudson for the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. While Nike is a West Coast company through and through they’ve certainly shown their ability to plant roots in the East as well, always making sure to trickle out plenty of nods and exclusives to the epicenter of the sneaker world that is New York City. Nike continues to treat some of its top new styles to baptism by Fireberry, this latest release expanding the scope of that WBF-inspired colorup from the Basketball division over to Running. The feather-light and supremely comfortable Nike LunarGlide+ 4 looks spectacular in Wolf Grey with Fireberry and (presumably) Dynamic Blue accents, but the real clincher is how dope the top layer of LunarLon looks covered in speckes of that same blue shade. They have a balancing effect on an otherwise ‘blank’ Wolf Grey upper, and your eye will naturally be drawn toward details like the Dynamic Flywire cables up close after the jump below.

Nike Running connected its most cutting edge designs with the look of a classic ‘Vintage Box’ release when they issued the first Shield Collection last fall in grey and orange. This year’s update sees the grey tones swapped for something more in line with 2012′s top colorways, as a black-based design adds reflective elements and vivid green soles to models like the new Nike LunarGlide+4, Free Run+ 3, Air Pegasus+ 29 and Lunarspeed Lite+.
