In addition to the variety of Hyperfuse, Flywire and LunarLon treatments we’ve seen Nike Sportswear apply to their classic running lineup, there’s a new update style that’s specifically geared toward making great summer shoes. No doubt following on the heels of the smash hit Roshe Run’s minimalist mesh build, the Nike Pre Montreal Racer Tape goes for a very breathable body as held together by the namesake piping. This edition mixes blues and whites in a style similar to the red pair we showed you a short while back, and both should be arriving at select NSW retailers shortly. Check out some more images below and stick with Sneaker News for the latest.

We saw it foreshadowed in spring 2013 releases featuring perforated sides, and now the classic Steve Prefontaine signature Nike runner goes with an even more breathable rendition for summer. The Nike Pre Montreal Racer Tape takes its name from the piping along the stitching lines on this new variation, but the key difference here is that the entire upper has been constructed of a breezy mesh. Let us know how these compare to the smash hit Roshe Run that utilizes a similar all-mseh upper, then grab your Pre Montreal Racer Tape in Pimento from Nike Sportswear retailers like Titolo.

First came the ‘Sunrise Pack’ and then a similar style applied to the Blazer, and now comes another instance of Nike Sportswear applying a gradient to a classic model released long before technology allowed such a thing. The Nike Pre Montreal Racer for women is the latest NSW heritage model to go with the color-fade look, this pair shifting from Pink Force at the front to a Hyper Blue heel by way of an unnamed purple shade. The result is very cotton candy-y, so have a closer look after the jump and pre-order yours before they ship in May from Titolo.

Among Nike Sportswear’s many retro running releases in recent years was this spring’s visit from Steve Prefontaine’s signature style, as the Pre Montreal Racer joined the likes of the V-Series, Air Epic and other time-tested styles that came back with the orange Swooshed script tags. Now we see one of those OG Pres referenced by one of NSW’s surprise hit for 2012, as the Nike Roshe Run appears in a USA-inspired colorup blending suede textures with a leather Swoosh. These are expected at select retailers like Crooked Tongues shortly, so have a closer look below and stick with Sneaker News for updates.

Nike Sportswear released the Pre Montreal Racer in a large run of VNTG colorways right around the turn of the year, and although we haven’t seen any others since then, it does indeed appear that this retro run will continue into the latter part of the year. The LIVESTRONG x Nike Pre Montreal Racer pictured above marks the first time that this Lance Armstrong Foundation collabo capsule has done up a pre-Air Max-era classic runner. It’s greyed out with just a hint of yellow stitching on the black Swoosh for a style that echoes the subtle approach on those Vintage drops, and though they don’t carry the VNTG distinction, this pair does also feature a pre-yellowed midsole. It’s fairly subtle on this one and seems perfectly paired with the LIVESTRONG colorway; will you be looking for these when they arrive in Q3? Have a closer look after the jump and check out the auction from dballaholic on eBay.

Sneaker News just showed you the Quickstrike release of a black and red Nike Pre Montreal Racer colorup, and the other originals are right around the corner with the rest of the lead pack. This is a five-man relay team all incorporating Nike Sportswear’s VNTG pre-yellowing to great effect, the quintet roughly split between high-contrast colorways and those that rely on a tonal approach to their colorblocking. We’ll start with the OGs, which include the USA edition as well as the Oregon Ducks-inspired Gorge Green and Yellow Orchid combo. Somewhere in the middle is a nice black and grey look, and then we move toward a study of textural contrasts with Violet Pop, Fresh Mint, and your basic Black/White running the anchor leg. NSW nails another vintage look by covering the whole spectrum from old school to current trends; only question is, which pair(s) will you lock up now at Nikestore?

When you own one of the world’s greatest sneaker collections, that level of experience and breadth of understanding can very easily lead to having your absolute favorite be a model that very few beyond the most dedicated sneakerheads would even be able to pick out of a lineup. That’s exactly the case with ShoeZeum curator Jordan Geller, who shared with Sneaker News that his all-time holy grail is one of the oldest old school runners, designed for Nike’s first signature athlete. The Nike Pre-Montreal was crafted with Oregon-born long distance running rockstar Steve Prefontaine, and after an extended absence, Nike Sportswear is finally bringing them back for a retro run. These two original colorways get the pre-yellowed VNTG treatment, but even those who decry the oxidized look will have to admit it’s executed to perfection on this duo. Check them out up close after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for news on the US release date on this spring 2012 drop. via atmos
