That the image of a young man servicing a backyard swimming pool sounds just as plausible as a ‘Desperate Housewives’ tie-in as a reference to the history of skateboarding is a testament to how far this sport has come in such a short time, and how intertwined it’s become with popular culture. But don’t forget, there was a time not too long ago before cities built skateparks (before vert ramps even existed!) and X-Games athletes sold chewing gum to pre-adolescents. It was during this formative era that skateboarding’s rebellious image was shaped by riders who’d occasionally venture into well-to-do neighbors’ backyards for a session carving out the lines in their dried out kidney pools. The Lance Mountain x Nike SB Blazer ‘Pool Service’ hearkens back to this classic period with a ‘deep end’ blue/grey leather whose mirky coloring ties in with the outlines of the pools that line the footbeds. Click through so you can see all the details and grab a pair of these at select Nike SB shops like Scene, who have them as a ‘Below the Line’ in-store exclusive.

The Dunk Pro SB is celebrating its 10th anniversary and Nike SB will soon unveil its take on the Air Jordan 1, but don’t forget about the other classic basketball silhouette that has been foundational for Swoosh skateboarding over the past several years. The Nike SB Blazer High was conspicuous by its absence in January’s footwear collection, but two upcoming colorways ensure that this revised take on the 1973 classic will garner its fair share of attention in the coming months. Coming up shortly will be the pair in Midnight Fog with Birch accents we just saw, along with a Quasar Purple suede makeup that roughly flips the color distribution found on February’s Blazer Low SB release. The quality of both pairs is apparent in the closeups you’ll see after you click on the jump below, and you’ll find the Midnight Fog edition at select Nike SB retailers with the Quasar Purple likely to follow next month. via Kasina

We’ve already seen a Nike SB model convert to Air Jordanism earlier this year (the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Space Jam’ for our readers still stuck on first gear), but here’s a look at a custom pair of the Nike SB Blazer re-imagined in black patent leather and royal blue; the upper is completely redone to appear like the Space Jam’s glossy patent leather mudguard, with rip-stop nylon utilized on the swoosh and the heel-tab. The blue contrast stitching on the Swoosh adds another layer of the Space Jam motif, as does the stitched detailing on the heel-tab, which spells out ‘SB’ to mimic the ’23′ used on the Air Jordan XI. There was in fact a general release version of the Nike Blazer from over a year ago that many dubbed the ‘Space Jam’ Blazer, but those didn’t feature the signature patent leather. More images await you below, so check out the gallery and go to Desp1′s webstore at FreshAndFly to cop one of the six available pairs.

Lately Nike SB has been taking the Nike Sportswear approach, adopting ‘lifestyle’ colorways to its skate-shoe models for the everyday wearable look. Just take a look back at a few years ago and you’ll see that Nike SB colorists have spurned the bright neon tones for muted, darker tones, like Anthracite, Oil Green, Binary Blue, and Blue Dusk. Of course, it’s the materials that also give a sneaker its character, and Nike SB’s penchant for buttery suedes, gentle canvas, and denim twill have taken the sub-label to new heights, and the September 2011 footwear roll-out serves as a sign of things to come for the coming Holiday 2011 season. Check out all of the Nike SB September 2011 Footwear, which includes the Nike SB Dunk High in Anthracite/Gold Dust that was previewed over the weekend and a few new Janoskis and Harbors, and let us know what you think of the coming month’s collection.

Owing to the buildup and massive holiday season success of the Air Jordan XI Retro upon which it was made famous, Nike Inc.’s Cool Grey shade has been the single most important color over the past twelve months. Countless complimentary designs dropped in the signature grey and white motif, and though this year has featured more quality custom sneakers than any other, a surprisingly low number of those have been CG’d. So check out the latest work from JBF, who applies the steely theme to his old standby the Nike SB Blazer High along with another classic basketball shoe in the adidas Superstar. Both are crafted in premium tumbled leather with white contrast stitching, and should contribute to JBF’s current goal of accumulating 1000 Twitter followers. Both are available for purchase with a combined price of $750; is JBF‘s handiwork worth the premium price tag?

It’s been quite a while since we heard anything on the Nike SB front concerning legendary skater Lance Mountain and the Nike SB Blazer. The recent Blazers he designed for the MOCA charity auctions were nice, but there were limited to 24 pairs, which would obviously make it difficult to obtain. Here’s a look at an upcoming collaborative release of the Nike SB Blazer dubbed ‘Pool Service’, which features a funky insole featuring kidney-shaped swimming pools that Lance Mountain was known to dominate. The upper features a navy blue distressed leather with gold contrast stitching, bronzed lace eyelets, and a suede-like material on the swoosh. Spring 2012 is the targeted season for these Blazers, so check out these new images courtesy of N-SB and stick with Sneaker News for more updates.

Nike Skateboarding has teamed up once again with Los Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Artby releasing a limited-edition run of this Nike SB Blazer Mid, designed by Lance Mountain. The MOCA x Lance Mountain x Nike SB Blazer High features Mountain’s signature Doughboy icon on the heel of the shoe, which features a black upper and swoosh of a different color. Just eight pairs of each of the three colorways were made, totaling the twenty four pairs that were released to auction. In addition, each color was made in just one size, as the blue pairs are size 9, green pairs are size 10, and red pairs are size 11. The auctions will end on July 28th and a few pairs of each colorway/size are available, so continue reading for a detailed look and don’t miss out on this made-for-charity pair by checking out the auctions from mocastorela on eBay.

We first told you about this Nike SB Blazer a few days ago when we gave you the information regarding the “Made for Skate” book and exhibition by Nike SB being held at a Pop Up Shop in Amsterdam with the help of boutiques Toms and Ben-G. To celebrate the release of the book, Nike SB will be releasing this Made for Skate Blazer SB that features a huge toe cap covering the toe box of the shoe as well as a very dope colorway of Blue, Yellow, and Red, notice how the Swoosh is Yellow but also outlined in Red to contrast against the Blue upper. The heel tab reads “Made for Skate” instead of Nike. Remember these are limited to 24 pairs worldwide, so best of luck getting your pair when they are released at the Nike SB Pop Up Shop in Damski, Netherlands next Sunday, November 30th, 2008.
