NIKE SB DUNK MID The Nike SB Dunk Mid introduced an in-between height to the classic Dunk model under the Nike SB imprint. As a whole the silhouette has a smaller number of highly-sought after colorways than the Nike SB Dunk High and Low, but it remains a popular choice for Nike SB enthusiasts. The Nike SB Dunk Mid traditionally features a strap across the tongue, an element that was removed in 2011 and subsequently brought back in 2012.

Nike Inc. already got in on The Dark Knight Rises hype with a couple of new Chuck Taylors, so that cushions the blow just a bit. But still, it’s hard to see this new pair of Nike SB Dunk Mids and not think they’d be perfectly timed as an homage to the earlier Batman aesthetics. The colorway is actually a very dark blue (Dark Obsidian suede, to be precise), but it does indeed come across like the OG Caped Crusader thanks to Metallic Gold accents. In any case, the Mid’s cult following will be happy to see its strap in tact on this release just like 2008′s grey, black and yellow design, so have a closer look and check back with us for updates before the November release. via Homespun

The strap is back, are you on board? Whether or not that Velcro fastener looks appropriate on a pair of Nike SB Mid’s has been a point of much contention for devotees of the line as of late. And bicker though they might this particular release should unify the community a bit, serving up a murky colorway that cuts through the warmth of summer with its darker tones. The Thunder namechecked is as much a color here is it is a pattern, with the sections bearing the look sporting a foggy pattern ran over them. While the status of the SB umbrella is still undergoing some minor construction, we do know for a fact that the heritage models like the Dunk, Blazer, etc. will still carry the prized ‘SB’ designation. This advanced preview brought to light by mrnikesb6 of the aforementioned Dunk shows that Nike SB will live fervently for another year thanks to these great new colorways and materials pictured, like the distressed ‘Taun-taun’-esque suede material and the combo of perforated suede and faux carbon fiber. Summer should be out for most folks across the land, opening up the dog days for endless skate sessions and other such outdoor activities. Keeping you outfitted for the former is Nike SB’s upcoming crop of July drops, the general releases of which are previewed here. Their big name athletes (Janoski, Koston, P-Rod) all see their silhouettes re-upped for the summer, releasing alongside the Nike SB Team Edition and the tennis turned skate style the Nike SB Challenge Court. Of course the Dunks do their thing as always, with the once again strapped Nike SB Dunk Mid and a camo version of the Nike SB Dunk High thrown in the mix. Nike SB will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Summer of Love with a little synesthesia as the next Dunk Mid SB to roll out in San Francisco and the rest of the world treats us to a taste of visual ‘Thunder’. That’s one of the shadowy shades in use on this new strapped-up Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro, the other being Dark Obsidian. This two-tone design gets a bit of levity from a light grey outsole, but it’s the contrast in materials on the upper that makes the most impact on how this utilitarian colorway comes across. Check them out in greater detail below and expect these at select Swoosh skateboarding shops next month.

Nike SB is in the middle of a transition. So much so, that retailers that carry their sneakers are now receiving shipments of familiar silhouettes that’ve been stripped of their ‘SB’ branding. This month’s Nike SB Zoom Eric Koston in white/gum and Stefan Janoski signatures in both heights signal wider distribution to come while Zoom Bruin and Dunk Mid both in white and soft neutrals still come with the same tags we’ve come to expect. Its once signature strap will soon return to the Nike SB Dunk Mid, and so far, each of the previewed colorways has been decidedly simple. We haven’t seen more than three (relatively muted) colors on a single pair since we learned of the Mid Strap’s return last November, so a new ‘Elite Series’-leaning colorup coming up for Q4 can immediately stake its claim for the most visually engaging yet. These dark suede Dunk Mid Pro SBs add a Metallic Gold Swoosh for a feel that’s fairly high energy when compared to the ‘Brickhouse’-style Baroque Brown edition you’ll also see below.
