NIKE SB DUNK MID The Nike SB Dunk Mid introduced an in-between height to the classic Dunk model under the Nike SB imprint. As a whole the silhouette has a smaller number of highly-sought after colorways than the Nike SB Dunk High and Low, but it remains a popular choice for Nike SB enthusiasts. The Nike SB Dunk Mid traditionally features a strap across the tongue, an element that was removed in 2011 and subsequently brought back in 2012.

It’s a shade we’ve seen on a couple of Nike SB releases during the spring 2012 season, and now the new green in question gets a model to call its very own. History will forever remember this Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro as the ‘Nori’, a sushi green-wrapped ocean treat whose deep sea blues appear in both suede and leather. Other than that material mix (similar to the Highs we just showed you), they’re reminiscent of one of last year’s Seattle Seahawks-inspired Dunk High; which one is a better seafaring SB? Nike SB’s biggest hit series continues to reach back to its roots for new releases, this latest a 2012 remix of an ’04 classic that manages to look a bit like the following year’s most memorable hit. This Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro is a ‘Sea Crystal’ both in color code and appearance, but can anyone argue that the adjustment in colorblocking that leads to a black base with Medium Mint Swoosh doesn’t resemble the immortal ‘Tiffany’ look? It’s like getting the best of both worlds unless you’re really into the Mid’s infamous strap; will you look to grab these from Nike SB retailers in March? The UK’s Flatspot already has theirs, and it may be worth checking around to see if they’ve touched down near you at the rate SB products are currently shipping.

Nike Skateboarding footwear don’t exactly have a seasonal approach, but the low-pro and low-cut sneaks have always been a warmer-weather affair. With this upcoming product line-up for March 2012, we can tell that Nike SB is gearing up for an unseasonably warm month of March (for the Northeasterners). The Nike SB Dunk Mid is set to reintroduce its once-defining ankle strap in the second half of this year, but before we revisit the original midtop silhouette, how about a journey back in time to a (couple of) colorway(s) that made its mark just a (couple of) year(s) before the Mid debuted. This Dunk Mid Pro SB in black, Medium Mint and Sea Crystal not only brings back the signature teal shade from a 2004 High that’s going for around 4x its box price these days, but also evokes memories of the immortal ‘Tiffany’ colorup from Diamond Supply Co. that we’ve seen replicated on so many Nike SB releases in recent years. Nike SB has played with the Dunk Mid a fair bit in recent years, first removing its signature ankle strap, then altering the sole and traction pattern as part of the entire series’ early 2011 refresh. And while we’ve seen several pairs showed off for upcoming months in this ‘High-lite’ build, it appears the middle of the year will see a shift back to the original Nike SB Dunk Mid construction, complete with velcro strap and ‘SB’ embroidery. Fans of the OG strap will be happy it’s back to provide a bit of extra support and style, and pretty much anyone with a pulse will dig this sick tonal blue design that not only offers a variety of shades, but also textures including hte tumbled look we’ve seen on a few notable Air Jordan Retros of late. Kicking yourself over that passed up pair of kicks from years back? One of those regrettable passes could be in here – Premier’s sudden restock of 2009 Nike SB releases. Some notables like the ‘Skate Mental’ and ‘Bloody Gums’ SB Dunk High just became available (again), as did few new notable Blazer renditions like the ‘USC’ in Maroon and Gold. Nike SB has issued a variety of adult beverage-inspired releases over the years, ranging from unauthorized appropriations pulled from store shelves like the ‘Heineken’, to next year’s ‘Crown Royal’ design. The latest model you could expect to end up in the Shoezeum’s ‘Break Room’ is this new Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro, nicknamed ‘Golden Hops’ for its use of a particular shade of golden brown on the suede underlay. These don’t scream ‘booze’ in the same way as the ‘Newcastle’ Lows or even the ‘Tecate’ Highs, but rest assured they’ll be tapped out if you don’t act now and grab a pair from Nike SB stockists like Concepts.
