NIKE SB DUNK MID The Nike SB Dunk Mid introduced an in-between height to the classic Dunk model under the Nike SB imprint. As a whole the silhouette has a smaller number of highly-sought after colorways than the Nike SB Dunk High and Low, but it remains a popular choice for Nike SB enthusiasts. The Nike SB Dunk Mid traditionally features a strap across the tongue, an element that was removed in 2011 and subsequently brought back in 2012.

Sneaker News has been providing some in-depth previews of Nike Skateboarding release for Summer 2012, like the entire catalog previewed in early October as well as the Dunk Lows, Mids, and Highs that we have you an exclusive look one. Scattered among all those April/May/June drops is this new ‘Nori’ colorway of the SB Dunk Mid; this un-strapped Mid-cut Nike SB Dunk combines Nori green with a nice shade of blue on the upper, with a white/beige midsole/outsole combination. The upper is built with a combination of soft suede (a huge plus for Dunk fans) and full-grain leather. Again, expect these next Summer, so enjoy the close-up angles of this upcoming release and let us know what you think. via Dunkbar.

Nike SB’s 2011 footwear has proven the value in revisiting some of the brand’s beloved classic colorways, but who’s to say that kind of remixing doesn’t work equally well with concepts as it does colorblocking? The Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro ‘Patagonia’ comes through as one of the first of these such updates that seems a bit stronger than its predecessor, a 2009 Dunk Low SB that flew under the radar compared to some of that year’s more memorable releases. This time around, details like metal eyelets along with a spot-on outdoor colorway make for a more obvious reference, even if the Lows were modeled after Patagonia’s long-enduring tag/logo. Click through so you can see more, let us know how these stack up against the Patagonia Lows and look for these at Swoosh skateboarding shops like Premier.

Welcome back the Strap. The Nike SB Dunk Mid underwent a significant change at the turn of the last new year, shedding the ankle-strap in favor of a classic lace-up construction. For 2012, the Strap will make a return (don’t worry, the strap-less version will still remain) in at least two colorways; expect one in a Navy/Black/Grey combination as well as basic Grey/Black with an oatmeal colored outsole. Do you prefer the Strap Mid over the un-strapped? In 2012, both will be an option, so don’t go too crazy making such a decision. Extra shots of the two aforementioned colorways are right ahead, so take a look and let us know what you think.

If we’ve learned anything from Nike’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, it’s that the brand is dead set on extending the aesthetics of outerwear well beyond the Nike ACG range. From beefed up Duckboot Air Force 1′s to Sky Force ’88s sporting d-ring lacing, it is abundantly clear that every division of the Swoosh will have the proper footwear for the coming months. The iteration for Nike SB is the Nike SB Dunk Mid ‘Patagonia’ that we’ve been patiently waiting for, which sports a mixture of earthy tones paired with metal eyelets and the classic hunter red laces. We’ve got some high quality pics after the jump to tide you over until their rumored December release, courtesy of aggi on N-SB.

Sneakerhead culture is wrought with simulacra and symbolic appropriation, this latest Nike SB custom something like the inverse of the most recent one we’d seen. Whereas jwiz had taken the forgotten ‘SF Muni’ thin-tongued Dunk Low SB and made it into something closer to the ‘Un-Supreme’ Nike SB Dunk Mid that just released, cemeterydrive has gone the other direction and made the Stealth, black and Dragon Red design less ‘Un-’ and more Supreme-ish thanks to a run of Elephant Print markings on the tumbled leather overlay. Regular Sneaker News readers will remember this guy as the same who Elephent’d the ‘Chromeball Incident’ Lows last summer; which pair turned out better? Click through to see more of this new Nike SB modification and stick with Sneaker News for more customs. via cemeterydrive on N-SB.

The Nike SB Dunk Mid is moving along strongly in 2011 with several standout colorways including the recent ‘Un-Supreme’ drop and even a reissue for the strapped Griptapes. Here’s a new look at another pair of Mids slated to release this year, depicted in a real world setting so you can get a sense for how well they’ll carry over to your winter wardrobe. The Dunk Mid SB ‘Patagonia’ is as rugged and outdoorsy as anything Swoosh skateboarding has released since the Bill Jordan Realtree camo joints that could also be seen as a starting point for the then-newly destrapped Mid’s winning streak. No matter which side of the strap debate you find yourself arguing, is there any doubt the Nike SB Dunk Mid hit its stride in 2011? Five years and one velcro enclosure after its debut, the model some considered the redheaded stepchild of the Dunk SB family has grown up to be a stunner like Christina Hendricks, this latest edition perhaps the most compelling yet thanks to its vague nod to the classic Supreme collaboration and its famed Elephant print. This pair’s grey overlay is actually a coarse tumbled leather that looks great in both color and textural contrast against a black suede base, red notes on the top and bottom finishing things off nicely. It’s tough to say whether it was these, the Brickhouse red joints or maybe even the return of the strapped Griptapes that’ll walk away as the year’s best, but one thing currently working in the above pictured pair’s favor is that you can get them right now from Nike SB spots like Premier.

While there’s still a gang of must have SB’s set to drop before the year’s end (with the Entourages at the top of that list) it’s never too soon to set your sights on the future. With that in mind, we have an extensive look at the Spring 2012 collection from Nike SB, ranging from Dunks to more functionally oriented skate shoes like the various Koston and P-Rod offerings. On the Dunk side of things Nike SB is dead set on carrying on with the strapless version of the Nike SB Mids, with the re-released ‘Grip Tape’ Nike SB Dunk Mids being perhaps the last time we’ll see that form of support on a pair of SB’s. Other releases in the dunk range include a familiar looking colorway in the Un-Tiffany’s, a flip on the highly sought after Tiffany SB’s from 2005. The other Dunk Low previewed here is something totally new, with a bone grey pebbled leather on the upper paired with a reptile green swoosh in faux-snakeskin. For the newer models we’ve got a look at a few P-Rod colorways as well as Janoski Mids and Koston 1′s. Take a full look at all these and more after the jump and let us know which ones you’ll be making room for in your spring rotation. Via n-sb.org
