Its name lets you know from jump street that this model is a sequel to Swoosh Skateboarding’s chunkiest mid-’00 lowtops, but from looking at the Nike SB Team Edition, you might see it as a (slightly wider) Stefan Janoski secondary signature. There’s no denying that the menswear look espoused by Stef’s sigs has made a major impact on the streetwear and sneakerhead worlds in recent years, and the simple blucher construction plus brogue-ish perforations conveys a timeless elegance. Accordingly, these look great in just a single color of suede with select accents, and adding black branding and brass eyelets to this Gorge Green suede makeup makes the latest Team Edition 2 SB a must have from shops like MIA.

We might look back on the second half of 2012 noting that Filbert was Nike’s key brown shade, having appeared on everything from Pushead’s second Nike SB Dunk collabo to an interesting duo of Air Jordan VIIs plus a few different boot styles. Add to that list the revamped Nike SB Team Edition, a model whose Anthracite accents including the vulc sole gives them a darker finish than, say, those blue-accented AJ7s. The new Team Edition SB has that classy style that’s kept Stefan Janoski’s signature at the top of the charts for over three years now, and this latest Filbert drop is available now at shops like Flatspot.

So far, if your Nike SB Team Edition 2s aren’t in the white/grey/black neighborhood, they’re red. Following up on the brick-colored Red Mahogany edition comes another in Gym Red, the Team Edition 2 SB taking on that familiar Chicago Bulls look just as the latest NBA Champion is crowned. Whether the Miami Heat have what it takes to become the league’s next dynasty remains to be seen, but is it a coincidence that those who wear these colors get paid off bigtime come summer? We’ll leave that for you to determine as the visual and skate performance benefits of this design speak for themselves, and you can find your ‘Gym Red’ Team Edition 2s right now at Nike SB stores like Preston, UK’s Scene.

The Air Jordan Legacy is full of groundbreaking and wholly original designs that both shook and provided the foundation for sneakerhead culture, but did this year’s iteration take a cue from Nike SB? This is set to be a calendar full of multi-sized perforations as the Air Jordan 2012 blends traditional wingtip luxury with Flywire and other cutting edge tech and the Nike SB Team Edition 2 comes through with its first full year of releases. This is a model you could in turn suggest found its roots in the success of Vans models like the Wingtip Era and their del Barco series that pushed boat shoe sneakers to a critical mass, in turn channeled by the monster hit Zoom Stefan Janoski. Whether it’s the waxed canvas utilized above or any of the suede looks we’ve previewed here on Sneaker News, the TE2 is a far cry from its immediate success, so examine this pair in greater detail after the jump, then check back with us for the release date. via N-SB

There are a few colorways we overwhelmingly associate to specific teams like ‘bred’ with the Chicago Bulls, or black and yellow with any of the Pittsburgh teams. And on the collegiate side of things, few universities can rival the sheer novelty of the maroon and orange combo found pretty much every where you look in southwestern Virginia’s New River Valley. The Virginia Tech Hokies, then, are an obvious connection to this newly revealed Nike SB Team Edition 2, a model whose trendy dress shoe styling cues remind us that VT has been going after a relatively small piece of the color wheel long before tonal sneaker releases were the flavor de jour. Click through for more including the gum outsole and stick with Sneaker News for updates on this April 2011 drop and all the rest of the upcoming Nike SB release dates. via N-SB
