Black uppers have produced a number of satisfying releases for the second Nike SB Team Edition lowtop. The model got its start in late 2011 with the ‘SB Chronicles’ edition, made a subtle shift for Grant Taylor’s SOTY tribute and dropped in a ‘Blackout’ makeup last summer. This time around, we get the beloved gum sole on the bottom of a black nubuck upper that’s been treated to tonal accents by way of the trusty Anthracite shade. Have a closer look after the jump, then pick yours up at SB retailers like Premier.

It’s been too long since we’ve seen a new Nike SB Team Edition, the shoe that replaces its identically named predecessor with a fresh new brogue-perfed look no doubt influenced by the staggering success of the Stefan Janoski. It’s been three months since we’ve seen a new Team Edition, but this new Squadron Blue and Midas Gold edition is a satisfying return. The embroidered side panel Swooshes give this model a little something extra during this era when synthetic materials and graphics are becoming so common, and you can see more of the traditionalist build below before buying at shop like Flatspot.

The Nike SB Team Edition has been out in its current form now for long enough that younger sneakerheads might not even remember how radically different it is from the mid-’00s original. The Team Edition reflects the trend toward elegance, traditionalism and minimalist design in the skateboarding world in recent years, this new Anthracite suede makeup adding Field Brown laces for a two-toned approach atop the classic white vulcanized sole. Inspect some additional images after the jump, then find yours available at select SB retailers including CNCPTS.

How many Nike Skateboarding riders can you name off the top of your head? It’d take a serious love of griptape beyond just the Paul Rodriguezes and Eric Kostons of the world to commit to memory that including these household names, there are a total of twenty-three Swoosh pro skaters (plus three up and coming amateurs). The Nike SB Team Edition is a shoutout to the whole squad, its brogue-perfed vulc-soled blucher build a representation of today’s cleaner skate aesthetic. This Deep Royal Blue suede edition has some serious class thanks to a gum brown sole, and you can see them below in more detail before buying at SB retailers like MIA.

How many pairs of the Nike SB Team Edition do you own? Chances are not too terribly many as this model has been quiet lately, seemingly content to let the signature bearing Nike SB team models take the spotlight. The summer selection is serving up at least one colorway, this pair of silver sidewalk surfers that keep things pretty neutral with the suede uppers. There’s a hidden bit of punch via the cool blue insoles, but other than that the sneaker stays in its unassuming lane, ending up as a solid no-frills release built to be skated. Hit the jump for extra shots and pick up this Nike SB Team Edition release now at accounts like Premier.

Eric Koston, Tony Trujillo, Silas Baxter-Neal; these are just three of the twenty-two men who’ve been crowned Thrasher Skater of the Year. It’s an award that since 1990 has fairly accurately expressed the general consensus of who killed it the most that year, the most recent winner a Nike SB rider by the name of Grant Taylor. Serious skaters and fans of his rasta-fied 2009 Blazer SB Elite already know exactly who he is, but nobody will forget his name once you’ve seen the deluxe package put together for his ‘Skater of the Year’ Nike SB Team Edition. The shoe itself is quite similar to the ‘SB Chronicles’ edition, but a laser-etched wooden box and ‘SOTY 11′ branding sets these apart as a friends & family exclusive. Let us know if you’d try to grab these at a premium from the secondary market and stick with Sneaker News for all the upcoming Nike SB release dates. via HS

A sufficiently targeted search through the Sneaker News archives will reveal that a mere three colorways have dropped since the revamped Nike SB Team Edition launched back in December. That same search will also provide some insight into the fact that the above pictured colorway has now been profiled as many times as pairs preceded it to market. And it is with good reason that this standout Team Edition (2) gets a bit of extra attention, its rustic colorway so unique that the only obvious reference available is to the Virginia Tech Hokies or any number of the shoes to which they’ve lent maroon and orange in recent years. Southwestern Virginia isn’t exactly a hotbed of skateboarding activity, but those colors play well on the Team Edition SB that you can see in more images after the jump, and they’re available now at select stores like Premier.
