nike sb dunk high cali release reminder 01 Nike SB Dunk High Cali Release Reminder

The Nike SB Dunk High “Cali” arrives at retailers this Saturday, August 30th, 2014. Don’t worry though, this won’t be a release exclusive to the West Coast strictly because of its namesake. The pair continues the fairly new tradition of the Swoosh’s skateboarding imprint bringing back legendary pairs of the silhouette like the Tiffany and Pushead in the alternate hightop form. Be sure to check out the comparison of the OG vs. the Nike SB Dunk High variety to see how the pair keeps the aesthetic pretty much intact. As always, you can continue onward for a better view of the latest Nike SB release, grab this pair from select spots like Premier, and see if you can grab your size on eBay.

Recently, we have seen Nike SB going with basic colorways on the Nike SB Dunk Mid. For instance, we saw the black and charred grey Nike SB Dunk Mid, which had an all black upper with minimal white hits, and now we have this red, or “Light Crimson”, pair that uses the same basic color blocking. The majority of the upper is covered in crimson with a few sections of the shoe, like the tongue and swoosh, dressed in white. Are these a must have for you? Let us know in the comments, and if they are, you can pick them up today from shops like Premier.

Nike: Outside The Box by Joel Colley

A recent ‘list’ pointing out the ten ‘rules’ of sneakerheadism suggested we throw out our shoeboxes. This following artwork, put together by Portland-based artist Joel Colley (who also worked on the ParaNormans) for the Nike Graphic Studio Art Show this Saturday, is a collective piece of the Nike shoeboxes in the brand’s history that suggests box-stockpiling isn’t a bad idea. Today, we’re given the option of brown and orange with a few extras bearing the Nike Skateboarding or LeBron/Kobe name, but part of Nike’s amazing history is actually in these sick shoebox designs – most of which we’ve shown you before in our vintage Nike shoebox feature last August. There are certain pieces in here that’ll induce the “oh yeah, I remember that!” and the “what the, when did this happen?” so check out this sick piece by Colley after the jump and let us know which your favorite Nike shoebox is!

Levi’s x Nike SB Omar Salazar LR – Available

levis x nike sb omar salazar lr available Levis x Nike SB Omar Salazar LR Available

Vacaville native Stefan Janoski’s hometown is closer to Levi Strauss & Co’s San Francisco headquarters, but it was Sacramento’s Omar Salazar who was chosen to be the Nike SB x Levi’s collection posterboy.  Dunk Low SBs are taking care of both navy and black jeanswear looks, so Salazar’s entry leans toward San Fran’s rich skate legacy with a black suede and leather build.  The Levi’s x Nike Omar Salazar LR has a timeless appeal in this simple build, and the understated yet unmistakable back pocket silhouette embroidered into the heel reminds us of the immortal 501 that’s been around longer than every single sneaker company.  Click through to see more, then find your Levi’s Salazar LR at retailers like Atlas.

Nike SB/6.0 – New Packaging

nike sb 6.0 new box 2 Nike SB/6.0 New Packaging

Nike SB enjoyed a solid 10-year run, producing some of the most collectible footwear models while introducing a ton of great pro models bearing the names of Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez, Stefan Janoski, and several other prominent riders in the burgeoning skate scene. SB is undoubtedly deserving of much of the credit for blossoming the sneakerhead sub-culture of rabid collecting and hunting particularly of the Dunk, but since mid-late 2006, the overall pace of Nike SB became noticeably slower while the Action Sports-specific Nike 6.0 started to gain steam. Earlier this year, Sneaker News discussed a number of notable changes to the Nike SB and 6.0 line that were planned for 2012, with signs pointing to a merge of sorts into one overall wing of Action Sports footwear and products, and this latest development proves that these changes will arrive sooner than later.

Here we have a look at what appears to be the new sneaker box for Nike’s Action Sports footwear models; it features a tan/brown exterior, much like the Nike Sportswear boxes, with a newly designed box-tag without any signifying of ‘SB’ or ‘Skateboarding’. According to N-SB, all of the signature models that were previously under the SB and 6.0 wing will come housed in this new packaging sans SB/6.0 designation and will be distributed to chain/mall retailers for wider distribution. Additional notes from the rumor mill state that the Janoski pro-model will also shed the SB tag, while classics like the Dunk, Blazer, and new Team Edition will remain in local shops. Last year, Sneaker News reported the news of a new red/white Nike SB box that was scheduled to debut in June of 2011, but that story never unfolded (and perhaps never will). Your thoughts on the changing scope and possible end of Nike SB/6.0? Let us know your thoughts below. via spottampa

Nike Skateboarding Innovation Timeline

nike skateboarding innovation timeline summary Nike Skateboarding Innovation Timeline

Third time’s a charm – just ask Nike SB. It took three attempts for Nike to become the Skateboarding powerhouse today, and after signing its first skateboarding athletes a decade ago, Nike SB was created, indirectly watering the rich sneaker sub-culture soil with its uber-collectible Nike SB Dunks. Typically minimalistic in design, skate shoes are rather tough to perfect, as a number of performance and comfort criteria must be met; cushioning, board feel, durability, and breathability, while cohesively bonding the ideas of tradition and progression are put in every Nike SB shoes, seen in the re-tooled SB Dunk, the Zoom FP, Zoom Koston One, Zoom Tre, and so on. Check out this timeline of Nike Skateboarding Innovation after the jump and let us know what your favorite Nike SB pro model is!
