Nike Sky Force ’88 ‘Safari Pack’

The star of new options for the Air Force 1 iD this month and soon to be unleashed on a huge variety of colorways celebrating its OG silo’s 25th anniversary, Safari print once again makes its mark on a Nike Sportswear classic. The Nike Sky Force 88 isn’t commemorating a round birthday like the AF1 or Air Safari, but it most definitely looks the part of an eighties baby with this vintage color-on-white blocking and tonal Safari hidden on the Swooshes and ankle collars. Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid TXT ‘Action Red’

After Sneaker News just shared with you word that the Electric Green edition it was previewed alongside is now ready for retail, it was only a matter of time before this new Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid TXT touched down. Dipped from collar to midsole in Action Red, these add white on the lining, outsole and branding for a look that’s unmistakably 2012 on this model soon to celebrate its silver anniversary. Their arrival means the black and Soar Lows can’t be too far off either, and you’ll find these new Sky Force 88 TXTs available from ID4Shoes on eBay.

Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid TXT – Action Red + Electric Green

The Nike Sky Force ’88 has been silent since the last of holiday 2011′s VNTG colorways, but here’s proof of at least two new upcoming pairs. A duo of new Sky Force midtops embraces the simple colorblocking that’s common to today and the time of its birth, though these pairs push way more to the 2012 side of things than those Vintage releases. All-over Action Red and Electric Green says quite a bit on paper, but even more on the nylon bodies of these designs you’ll see in greater detail after the jump. Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid ‘Hiker Pack’ – White – Grey Fleece

As it turns out, the ‘Hiker Pack’ lineup for the Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid runs a little deeper than we thought, with the clean white pair shown above set to hit shelves in the coming months as well. The choice of colors, or lack thereof, might not exactly exude that outerwear feel, but the d-ring lacing and metal eyelets are there all the same. Also the ankle material has been switched out, going for a warm fleece in place of the fuzzy wool that we saw on the other two ‘Hiker Pack’ models. Best of all may be pristine white soles, devoid of any pre-yellowing or faux vintage treatment. The sneaker turned boot releases should be no surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention over here at Sneaker News, but we’ll admit that the choice of the Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid sorta comes out of left field. We’ll take it though, as this OG member of the Force family wears the look well, repping the metal eyelets and d-ring lacing on the top end. Beyond that the wool treatment paired with the rich dark suede gives them a sturdy feel, something we haven’t seen before on the Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid. To this point in its 2011 Nike Sportswear resurrection, the Vintage Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid has appeared exclusively in classically styled color-on-white designs or fresh takes on tonal suede and leather. These new editions have a similarly old school feel thanks to some high contrast blocking in their own right, but you’ll find taht these two new pairs achieve a vastly different end thanks to large portions of black on the base layer. Red or blue framing elements give these a ‘J-Pack’ look that’s sure to be gone from store shelves with the quickness, so act now if you wanna grab one today from the UK’s Size?.

Nike Sky Force ’88 Mid VNTG Pack – Fall 2011

The recent Tier Zero release of the Stussy x Nike Sky Force ’88 pack has hopefully brought this old school model back to the public eye, and Nike is continuing the retro treatment with another triple threat release of the Nike Sky Force ’88. All three of the sneakers from this drop feature the VNTG treatment, which manifests mostly in the aged markings on the otherwise clean white soles. Fortunately, if you’re not a fan of the faux-yellowing, plenty of clever sneakerheads have found ways to clean them up.
