Before their was Air Max there was just Air technology. The gas encapsulated in polyurethane on the shoe’s base became a staple for the Swoosh thanks to inventor M. Frank Rudy, but it wasn’t displayed until Tinker designed the Air Max 1. The first shoe to implement the technology was the Nike Air Tailwind, and that fact can’t be overlooked. Today the shoe continues to be retroed featuring that nylon upper in a number of vibrant colorways, as this Vivid Sulfur/Action Red pair proves that the shoe can hold down some new shades. The Nike Air Max 1 was the first shoe to expose its Air cushioning, but the Nike Air Tailwind was the first sneaker to ever show up with that Frank Rudy system in place. Believe it or not they’re still going strong today – there was a retro rollout a couple of years ago that helped a new generation get familiar with the silhouette and there’s been a slow but steady stream since then. Latest for the revolutionary shoe is this violet force and anthracite combination, which is available now from Size?. Head there to purchase after you check out the rest of the photos for them waiting below.
