The Nike Toki Low debuted last month and already there’s a new variation headed to retailers. The Toki Low Canvas Decon features not only a slimmed-down textile upper as you might expect from the name, but also a smaller Swoosh added to the lateral heels for a look that sort of shadows the larger side panel branding. The initial Cool Grey, Pimento and Ice Blue colorways are on point, but the key here is whether you think the small Swoosh is a strong addition a la Air Max 1 B. You may have forgotten about the Nike Toki Low, as we previewed it back in early December with a projected January release date that came and went without a second viewing. Apparently that was but a short delay, as the first two VNTG Toki Lows have made themselves available in the Squadron Green and Stone Grey suedes that we’d seen back in 2012. This is something like Nike Sportswear’s answer to the Vans Chukka Low, a low-cut, vulc-soled take on the classic boot silhouette that strikes a perfect balance between ‘smart’ and casual. Introducing the Nike Toki Low. A hybrid child of the transition-signaling Sebaku and the iconic pillar of Beaverton’s vast kingdom that is the Blazer, it was only a matter of time before the latter’s vintage leanings caught up with this chukka-fied lifestyle sneaker. We’ve seen a few in the established midtop form, and now coming up in the leadoff spot for the new silo is a VNTG Toki Low duo that blends its weathered soles with neutral suedes for a couple of can’t miss casual staples. Coming up for January 2013 as part of Nike Sportswear’s SP13 catalog, these are further depicted below and available for pre-order from Titolo.
