Freehand Profit is back at it with his controversial creations, this time giving the Edward Scissorhands treatment to a pair of the EA Sports adorned Nike Air Trainer 1.3 that dropped last summer. Actually this time around he went ahead and utilized three pairs for his work, spinning the silhouette appropriately enough into a football helmet rather than his trademark gas-mask. The EA Sports commissioned piece sort of doubles as a historical marker of the Nike x NFL agreement, embodying the union of the National Football league and the Swoosh team. Nike Sportswear has a ’Volt Pack’ of classic basketball shoes on the way, presumably in connection with a summer-long celebration of the 2012 London Olympics and their occasion commemorating two decades since the original Dream Team, but could you build a similar set with an entirely different backstory? Nike Training says yes with this new trio of black, grey, white and neon designs from their latest releases including the Nike Trainer 1.3 Max, Trainer 1.3 Low and the recently released Vapor Trainer. These don’t have the kind of uniformity found on that upcoming NSW retro series, which turns out to be all for the best and gives each pair of these a distinct identity beyond its unique lines. Since it first released in late summer, the Nike Trainer 1.3 has shown up in a variety of impressive colorways and themes. We’ve also seen a variety of constructions with two different full-length Max Air editions joined by a Free soled variation. This latest release falls into that latter category, the new Trainer 1.3 Free in Dark and Cool Greys perhaps most similar to the EA Sports ‘Letterman’ collabo for its use of suede instead of Hyperfuse and a general muting of the forefoot Flywire. The LIVESTRONG x Nike partnership continues for the Holiday 2011 Collection, as we get a look at the footwear capsule for men and women. For men, a darker, black/grey motif is front and center, paired with the signature LIVESTRONG yellow accent on the Nike LunarGlide+ 3, Nike Trainer 1.3, and Nike ACG Wildwood. For the women’s collection, a softer pale grey is used, with the LunarGlide+ 3, Zoom Vomero+ 6, and Nike Air Max Navigate being the featured sneakers on the LIVESTRONG platform. Sneaker restocks or delayed releases account for some of the pleasantly surprising gems in the sneaker game. Out of nowhere, a popular sneaker that has long since released pops up for sale without any real explanation of how or why the repletion occurred. Online retailer Eastbay has been one of primary culprits of this trend, with sneakers like the Air Jordan XI Cool Grey and the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Blake Griffin popping up for sale weeks (and in the Cool Grey XI’s case, months) after the release. The same can be said for the Nike Trainer 1.3 ‘Letterman’, a special edition version of the new Trainer 1.3 that Sneaker News gave you a first look on. These sold out rather quickly when they dropped at Nikestore and Niketown retailers, but luckily, Eastbay strikes again with a full size run. Head to Eastbay for yours, or snag a pair on eBay.

The video game releases from EA Sports are always some of the most anticipated of the year, and Nike has teamed up with the virtual powerhouse for a very special edition of the Nike Trainer 1.3 to commemorate the just released NCAA Football ’12. The trainers get their design cues from a letterman jacket, with a fuzzy wool upper paired and chenille swoosh to make the inspiration evident, with the “EA” badge on the tongue being the letters you are repping here. The darker colorway gets a bit of pop from the blue and red EA logo as well as the nice icy soles on the bottom. This Nike Trainer 1.3 is available right now online at Nikstore, so head over there to grab a pair before they dry up.

Sneaker News was first to show you this special colorway of the Nike Trainer 1.3, which was created in partnership with EA Sports and the newly released EA Sports NCAA Football ’12. It paired a luxurious wool upper with a seamless molded toe-box and heel, and the finishing touches of a translucent outsole and chenille material on the swoosh and EA Sports tongue label made these Letterman jacket-inspired kicks one of the hottest Trainer releases of the year. Lucky you: these have begun to drop at footwear retailers like ShoeGallery, but expect these to pop up in a wider release soon because NikeTown retail locations have already begun to stock them as well. Sneaker News first gave you an exclusive look at the EA Sports x Nike Trainer 1.3 yesterday. It featured the all-new Nike Trainer 1.3 design constructed of materials inspired by the classic letterman jacket, which some view as a badge of honor in athletic circles. This new detailed look reveals a number of lux aspects of this rugged athletic shoe, like the wool upper, the molded toe-box and heel, the icy translucent outsole, and the chenille material used for the EA Sports logo on the tongue. These are set for a limited release on July 12th, coinciding with the release of EA Sports NCAA Football ’12, EA’s latest installment in the college football simulation game franchise.
