The Air Vortex remains the most enduring of three V-Series retro runners resurrected by Nike Sportswear in 2011, having issued several new colorways including plenty of VNTG styles for this year. The familiar silhouette is back again in a Vintage style for the holiday season, but this time it’s packing state of the art cushioning technology as the Nike Vortex Vintage Lunar NRG keeps its time-tested upper but swaps the old Air sole out for a fresh new LunarLon midsole. Gone too is the Vortex’s heel counter, in favor of a Dynamic Support(ed) build whose Filbert suede and nylon mix is the latest Quickstrike available at NSW retailers like Size?

Nike Sportswear made a strong push to resurrect the mid-’80s V-Series running trio last spring, issuing retro and new colorways of all three designs along with LunarLon updates for the Venture and Vengeance (x2!). And as luck would have it, the style that’s proved most enduring from this bringback had yet to get its Lunar foam treatment before the new Nike Vortex Vintage Lunar popped up today. These feature the Filbert shade of brown that’s built some momentum in the second half of 2012, contrasted by Midnight Navy and Blue Glow shades for a supremely wearable shoe whose sheer comfort will keep you coming back for more.
