It’s been several months since we’ve seen either the original Chukka or the AM1 hybrid, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see a new Nike Wardour Max 1 colorway arrive at retail. This lifestyle shoe riding the iconic Air Max 1 midsole is a decidedly casual affair in Light British Tan suede plus green on the tongue and outsole. These switch from the boot-like D-ring eyelets to an inline approach and this makes a big difference, particularly for an organic rendition such as this. Have a closer look at the newest Wardour Max 1 after the jump, then grab yours at NSW retailers like Hanon.

The Nike Wardour Max 1 was already a sneaker pulling at some hallowed Swoosh tech, its boot shaped upper paired with the instantly recognizable Nike Air Max 1 kit on the bottom. This latest iteration pulls from a more recent Nike innovation and in a much more subtle manner, putting on the textiled woven look from the tip of the tongue all the way down to the toebox. Click through with us to check out the Nike Wardour Max 1 PRM NRG and if you like what you see, keep in mind that the UK’s Hanon is stocking them now.

Nike Sportswear is no stranger to evolving its lifestyle designs (as best exemplified by the wide-ranging Footscape series) but we’ve never seen one established and then immediately revised before the original built much momentum. But the Nike Wardour Max 1 seems poised to thrive even if the base model hasn’t yet fully blossomed, as evidenced by how solid this new Sunburst Red combination of leather and ripstop nylon turned out. The all-red look is gaining a head of steam with Jordanheads and you can see more photos below of how this new Wardour Max 1 will join in on this aggressive style.

We haven’t even seen the first shipment in its original form, and now already, new variations of Nike Sportswear’s Wardour Chukka have outnumbered the original design. The Nike Wardour Max 1 also adds a healthy dose of rugged outdoorsiness thanks to D-ring and hook eyelets as seen on a new Stadium Green edition, a style that looks like it would have been right at home during the early days of All Conditions Gear. Might we see further styles with ACG-like exuberant colorways? Stick with Sneaker News to find out and check out some new images below in the meantime.

Considering Nike has been so open in re-using midsole molds for a number of its newer models, it’s rather refreshing to see the original vis-Air unit be used rather selectively. So it seems that Nike has some expectations set for the Nike Wardour Max 1, as it’s been giving that prime distinction of the ’87 midsole, but even the toe-box stitch design is very AM1-like in itself. Three colorways – Grey/Volt, Brown/Black, Black/White – are currently slated for a release very soon as UK’s hanon has ‘em up for pre-order, so it’s time to take a detailed look at this new NSW model and give it the proper judgement it deserves. Click through for a detailed look and let us know if this AM1-based Chukka is due for success!
