We’ve seen some unexpectedly quick turnarounds this spring as the Air Max 2009 and 2011 have come back including new NIKEiD options, their quick resurrections a direct response to these models’ reputation as kings of comfort. The Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 provides a similar benefit for a different sport, this standout from the NBA’s early/mid-’00s lull that reminding us of their connection to Kobe Bryant with this black and Varsity Maize combo that’d be perfect as a ‘Lakers Away’ choice. We won’t get into all that Pittsburgh/Wu-Tang/bumblebee stuff, but whatever story you find connects you to one of the true modern classics, be sure that you don’t miss out on these available now from FinishLine.

Of all the years for Nike Sportswear to celebrate with their upcoming USAB/Dream Team tribute, 2004 is by far the weakest. The Athens Games were only one of two times since 1980 that the US didn’t walk away with Gold, an unfortunate bit of timing that stands in stark contrast to the above pictured model that’s still considered one of the best built basketball sneakers ever, some eight years after its debut. The Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 will return with a patriotic colorup later in the year, but simple new colorways like this Wolf Grey and Tide Pool combo will be arriving at retailers before the red, white and blue joints. Almost an ‘MLPS’ colorup on a model that can be seen as the Zoom Kobe 0, you can see more images of these after the jump below. Let us know how they compare to the other upcoming designs and stick with Sneaker News for release info. via Taobao

The upcoming Nike Sportswear ‘Dream Team’ Collection is certainly the most fitting name for this set of sneaker releases, isn’t it? Aside from the direct reference to the 1992 Dream Team that took home the Gold medal in domination fashion, these four releases offer up the opportunity to cop some sneakers that we haven’t seen in a long while. The Nike Air Force 180 ‘Olympic’ returns once again, as does the Nike Air More Uptempo, that dropped in 2010 as a House of Hoops exclusive. Joining the two 90′s models is the Nike Shox BB4, made famous by Vince Carter’s complete demoralization of Frederic Weis and entire French National Team, and the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4, that debuted during the ’04 Olympic year. We’ve got another look at the upcoming Nike Sportswear ‘Dream Team’ Collection after the jump so take a look and stick with Sneaker News for more release information as it develops.

Team USA will lace up this August to defend their 2008 Gold Medal during the Summer Olympic Games in London, and if they keep the historic 1992 Dream Team in focus, they’ll have no difficulty in returning the prized Gold to U.S. soil. While the 1992 squad is best recognized as the ‘Dream Team’, there’s no doubt that the United States sends the most talented bunch of basketball players every four years, and the upcoming 2012 team has the high expectations of reaching or surpassing the record-setting success of the ’92 team that boasted names likes Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.
To celebrate the ‘dream’ heritage of USAB, Nike Sportswear unveils the Nike Sporstwear ‘Dream Team’ Collection, which features five of the most memorable Nike Basketball selections of the past games and a special edition Nike Destroyer Jacket that pays tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the original Dream Team. Included in this pack (previously featured on Sneaker News) is the Nike Air Force 180 (Charles Barkley), Nike Air More Uptempo (Scottie Pippen), the Nike Shox BB4 (Vince Carter), and the Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 as well as a Nike Air Force 1 High. Delivering on the promise of our initial preview of the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4, some shots of the purple pair from the pack have popped up again ahead of their impending release. One of the lighter looking pairs from what we’ve seen so far, this Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 goes for a white base on the upper with some heavy sections of purple on the accents and midsole. The choice of purple makes sense given Kobe’s tenure in these sneakers, but is this a colorway you’ll be lacing up in as well?
