The 2003-2004 NBA Season was the beginning to a major change for the Los Angeles franchise. It was the last season that Kobe and Shaq would be teammates, and it would be the last NBA Finals appearance for Kobe until he returned in 2008. It was also the year that Kobe consistently rocked Nike shoes, wearing the Zoom Huarache 2k4 in various PE colorways during the regular season and in the NBA Finals – the famed ’5-game sweep’ at the hands of the Detroit Pistons. Although not an original colorway of the H2K4, this Black/Yellow colorway would have cracked Kobe’s ’04 rotation due to the simple Black/Yellow colorway – all it needs is a Kobe Shozoku logo on the heel! Don’t count on Bryant wearing these in the regular system because he’s got the Kobe System to support his feet, but don’t be surprised if you see these on the feet of his teammates! nba feet 1 16 12 NBA Feet: Weekend Recap 1/13 1/16

While most of the sports world was focused on the NFL Divisional Playoff games over the weekend, there were still a number of headlines made by the NBA. Kobe Bryant continued his streak of 40-point games while wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, and Monta Ellis strengthened his campaign as this year’s Gilbert Arenas as he was spotted rocking the Air Jordan XI ‘Space Jam’. Teammate and fellow sneakerhead Nate Robinson rotated the Air Jordan XIII ‘Playoffs’ and Nike Air Max2 CB ’94. Ray Allen rocked the Air Jordan XIII ‘Ray Allen PE’ against the Bulls, Rudy Gay and Andre Iguodala sported the Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer (releasing this February), and Timofey Mosgov of the Nuggets shined in the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4. In the PE corner, Lamarcus Aldridge rocked Silver/Black/Red Air Max Hyperdunk 2011s, LeBron broke out the red/black PE, and Chris Paul showed off a new Clipper-centric CP3.V Check out all the NBA action below and stick with us for more NBA Feet coverage! via Yahoo!.

For the younger demographic of the Black Mamba faithful – did you know that the Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 was supposed to be his first signature shoe? Timing’s everything and for Nike to put out a sig shoe bearing Kobe’s name wasn’t exactly the best move at the time, but Kobe still rocked the super-comfy Zoom Huarache 2k4 with pride. It wasn’t until 2006 that we would see the first official Nike Kobe shoe, but Kobe historians often point to the H2K4 (considered to be one of the greatest Nike basketball products of all-time) as the official start to the Kobe legacy. Sneaker News brought good fortune to our readers when we reported the news of the re-release of the Zoom Huarache 2k4, and here we have a detailed look at a Black/Varsity Maize colorway that Kobe could definitely rock right now – although the superstitious would rather Kobe not change up his routine because he’s going nuts on the court right now. Check out the detailed angles below and let us know what you think of the colorway, and let us know if you’d like to see Kobe rock the Huarache 2k4 this season! via MarqueeSole.

Nike Zoom Kobe Historical Comparison

January 11th, 2012 by | 25 comments

nike zoom kobe historical comparison 14 Nike Zoom Kobe Historical Comparison

In 2003, Kobe Bryant was officially added to the exclusive bunch of Nike signature athletes, joining the likes of Michael Jordan, Anfernee Hardaway, Charles Barkley, and more. The addition of Kobe, alongside the new acquisition of prep-to-pro prospect LeBron James, would mark a brand new era of Nike Basketball, one that has fortified Nike’s role as the pinnacle of performance basketball outfitting. It was in 2006 when a Nike shoe would officially bear Kobe Bryant’s name, but it was originally the Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 that was set to be the starting point to a long-lasting partnership; following the Zoom Huarache 2k4 was the 2k5 version, which paved the way for Kobe’s official introduction as a Nike signature athlete in 2006 with the release of the Air Zoom Kobe 1.

Since that ’06 debut, we’ve seen Nike accomplish hat it had set out to do when it first brought on the Lakers superstar; six more installments as well as the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk (another ‘unofficial’ Kobe shoe), with the game-changing Kobe System setting new precedents in basketball footwear and design. So by our count, it’s ten shoes for Kobe thus far, and there’s no end in sight just yet. It’s not often we get to see all ten shoes bunched together, but thanks to wmsky of Kenlu, we’re given a nice side-by-side comparison of the Kobe V, VI, and VII as well as a unique look at original vs. current Kobe model. Check out some of the nice visuals after the jump and let us know which Nike Kobe shoe is your favorite of all-time.

This past Tuesday was the biggest one for the Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2K4 during the entire time Sneaker News has been online.  This modern classic showed up first as part of the Nike USAB Pack celebrating previous summer Olympic Games and then again alongside a highlighter-like pair covered in Volt.  Turns out that second pair was a sign of things to come, as now we see that each of the four models from the USAB set have been reproduced in black and Volt for another upcoming pack for Q3 2012.  Along with the Huarache 2K4s, expect the Nike Air Force 180, Air More Uptempo and Shox BB4, fittingly done primarily in black, leaving the Huaraches as the sole all-Volt design (2004 being the only Olympics of these four that didn’t result in US gold).  Click through to view each pair, and let us know how these compare to the USAB joints, as well as which single design is the best among them.

ncaa feet 12 5 11 NCAA Feet: Week Of 11/28 12/4

The biggest basketball news of the last week came from the NBA, as an agreement between the players and owners was tentatively reached and a Christmas Day starting line was set. However, there wasn’t a lack of basketball action; San Diego State battled Arizona in a clash of the sneakerhead schools, while Syracuse came with their A-game during the NIT Season Tip-Off amidst the scandalous stories surrounding assistant coach Bernie Fine. The UNC Tar Heels, ranked #1 in the nation, feel to UNLV in a stunning loss as well. Below we have a nice recap of some of the notable sneakers worn during the games, like the Black/Cement III and Air Jordan IX on the Orange feet, the Oregon State AJ9 PEs, Concords on Jordan’s boys, and of course, a slew of Jordan heat from the aforementioned SDSU/Arizona match-up.
