Nike Huarache History: The Evolution of Tinker’s Neoprene Sneakers

nike huarache history Nike Huarache History: The Evolution of Tinkers Neoprene Sneakers

The Nike Huarache line is another of those timeless Nike collections that we have Tinker Hatfield to thank for. The sneakers first landed back in 1991 in the form of the Nike Air Huarache, that runner that was one of the earliest examples of Nike willfully creating a sneaker that was “stripped to the bare essentials”, as the vintage ad copy claims. That stripping also manifested in the branding used – Tinker and co. scaled back the Swoosh coverage to create something that could better rest on the laurels of its technology. That technology was one that actually was in danger of not making it to retail at one point in production; the legend goes that Nike was weary of bringing the model to market, but a test run sold at the NYC Marathon in the early 90s had runners clamoring for the model and it was in turn given the greenlight.

Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid – Air Max 360 Sample

nike zoom huarache tr mid air max 360 sample 1 Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid Air Max 360 Sample

Even in today’s era of smarter shoe-shoppers who have become keen with genuine products, counterfeits continue to be a thorn on the side of the ‘game’. One popular model that these fake-mongers have produced in hives is the faux-360 Max Air hybrids. Fake Air Jordans, Kobes, LeBrons, and Yeezys have been made with the counterfeit Air, so you might be thinking – “Are these counterfeits?”.┬áThis shoe you see here isn’t a fake, but a sample ‘hybrid’ that combines the Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid upper with the 360 Max Air unit, and as seen with the sample Nike tag and Bo Jackson’s ‘BOOM’ detailing, these samples are the real deal. Technically speaking, these wouldn’t be a ‘Zoom’ shoe, but swapping it out for full-length Air Max isn’t a bad move at all; it gives the sneaker an aggressive look like Air Max TR1 360 without losing an ounce of comfort. Your thoughts on this funky-looking hybrid sample? Check out the detailed shots of this Huarache TR Mid Air Max 360 below and if you want ‘em in your stash, this 11.5 sample is available now from thecoolshoeshine on eBay.

NBA Feet: Gilbert Arenas – Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid ‘Playstation’

Yes, he’s back, and it only took him two games to reclaim his rightful position as the sneaker king of the NBA. After being picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies, Gilbert Arenas whipped out some sexy sneakers – the unreleased Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid ‘Playstation’ that was part of the ‘Playstation Move’ Pack. Since his uneventful departure from the NBA, it took Arenas quite some time to return to the court, although he did garner some interest from title-contending teams like the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, he joins the Memphis Grizzlies, a team very much in the Playoff race that would love a boost on offense – and who better than one a player who considered one of the most feared scorers in his prime? He clearly has some rust to shake off, but his addition should help the Memphis cause while giving sneaker fans an incredible and long-awaited show! Of course, all credit goes to Amare Stoudemire for making the Zoom Huarache TR Mid a cult hit on the NBA floor with his sick Player Exclusives, but Gilbert’s TR Mid’s aren’t shabby at all! via ESPN

Nike Zoom Huarache TR Mid – Amare Stoudemire’s Knicks PE’s

A mid-series injury to Knicks All-Star F/C Amare Stoudemire all but sealed the deal for the Boston Celtics, but STAT made one last hoorah before he bowed out of the 2010-11 NBA season for good. You might’ve spotted Stoudemire’s brand new Zoom Huarache TR Mid PE during our NBA Feet recap from earlier today – a blazing orange upper in patent leather paired with a white midsole and a translucent blue forefoot outsole. This particular PE features Amare’s AS1 PE logo on the tongue with a unique insole featuring a number of graphics. The Zoom Huarache TR Mid isn’t primarily a basketball shoe, but an all-purpose performance Trainer with apparent adaptivity to the hardwood. Stoudemire wasn’t the only player to rock Huarache TR Mids this season, but his PE’s have shined the brightest, and it looks like there’s a third one of the trio – an ‘Alternate’ featuring a Black upper and Orange/Blue trim around the shoe. Check out additional images of Stoudemire’s new PE as well as some in-game shots and stick with Sneaker News for more updates regarding his kicks! via DJCK.
