International competition is an annual affair, with various tournaments and events being held year-around across the globe. The Olympic Games, however, get the most attention, which is why Nike will go the extra step for their 2012 Olympics footwear and apparel capsule like this USA-inspired colorway of Navy/University Red-White on this Hyperdunk 2011 Low. While not an official Team USA product, you can certainly expect something just like this, adopting the patriotic red, white, and blue painted all around the shoe. It wasn’t enough to keep former coach Mike D’Antoni around when Carmelo and co. collectively checked out, but Jeremy Lin’s influence on the New York Knicks this season is still easily one of the year’s most notable stories. The young Harvard grad who’d been all but forgotten by the talent-rich NBA seemingly came out of nowhere to spark an outbreak of ‘Linsanity’ when he set all kinds of records and led the Knicks to seven wins in his first seven starts. This new Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low PE is the ‘Away’ counterpart to the ‘Linsanity’ Hyperdunk 2011 Low that released about a month ago, it’s battle-ready black colorup just the kind of thing we would have expected to see from Lin in the playoffs, had a knee injury not prematurely ended his meteoric rise in the Big Apple. Lin chose the cautious route so he’ll be ready come next season; will this ‘Away’ version of his Hyperdunk 2011 player exclusive be along for the ride? Although a knee injury has placed ‘Linsanity’ in a straight jacket, the Jeremy Lin collective is still celebrating the young guard’s meteoric rise to stardom. During Lin’s two-month stretch, any piece of sports apparel donning his name sold like hotcakes all around the world, and with the sudden release of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low ‘Linsanity’ earlier this month, sneakerheads were in for one final surprise of the season (unless the Knicks advance to the second round of the Playoffs, where Lin could make a return). Dropping this Saturday, April 14th, are the Linsanity Hyperdunks, so if you’ve been dying to complete your set of Jeremy Lin memorabilia, head to 21 Mercer this weekend or go ‘Linsane’ right now on eBay.

Carmelo Anthony proved last night that the Knicks can beat the NBA’s best under the right circumstances, but you’d be hard pressed to find a fan of New York basketball who wouldn’t want their breakout point guard in tow come playoff time. Jeremy Lin’s return this season seems unlikely given the Knicks’ uphill climb through the Eastern Conference playoff bracket, but if Linsanity strikes again, the sports story of 2012 will find its second chapter rooted in this Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low PE. They’re similar to the Zoom Hyperfuse Low iDs that featured his name in February but without the black accenting we’ve seen New York wearing since 1995; which color combo makes for the better player exclusive? Linsanity might have come to a pause when it was confirmed that the Knicks point guard would miss the rest of the NBA season due to a knee injury, but it looks like the folks overseas are still celebrating the Taiwanese-American Jeremy Lin with a release of a PE colorway of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low. It features a simple Knicks colorway of royal, orange, and white, but with a special-edition insole featuring LINSANITY in the bold typefont, colored in with a camo-style detailing. These have just hit select Nike Basketball retailers in China, but would you like to see a release in the states, perhaps as a House of Hoops exclusive? It seems like the New York Knicks ship has been righted (so far) largely in part due to interim coach Mike Woodson’s defense-first attitude. While Woodson needs to do a bit more than win five games to shed the interim tag for good, his style should fit the Knicks roster rather well as it resembles that of his previous Atlanta Hawks rosters that featured similar superstars at the frontcourt positions. Jeremy Lin’s slightly reduced role allows him to conserve his energy while being a bit more selective with his offense as well, and while the ‘Linsanity’ has died down a bit, fans are still fiending for Knicks-inspired gear, like this sick new White/Royal/Orange Hyperdunk 2011 Low. It was another great weekend of NBA games, and the amped-up level of intensity was definitely noticeable throughout all the contests that went down over the last three days. Teams tend to ‘step it up’ after the All-Star Weekend, and that was certainly the case for Sunday’s match-up between the Knicks and Celtics; Rajon Rondo quieted trade-rumor controversy by putting up one of the most impressive triple-doubles in history while wearing the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low. The much-publicized match-up between Rondo and Lin took attention away to arguably the most un-discussed All-Star of the year in Deron Williams, who dropped a Heinz-ketchup bottle against the Charlotte Bobcats whilst rocking the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low. The Masked Mamba remained undefeated as he slipped through the Kings and Heat while wearing the Kobe VII in the Home Lakers colorway. Some nice LeBron 9 sightings were worth noting, like Eric Bledsoe wearing the Black/Red, Ty Lawson with the ‘Bright Mango’, and LeBron with the Ironman-esque Fairfax H.S. PE. Following Bobby Simmons’ return last week, another 10-day contract player that deserves attention is Gerald Green, the former top-prospect and Dunk Contest champ who joined the New Jersey Nets while wearing the Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’. DeMarcus Cousin liked his Rising Stars PE so much that he, like Jeremy Lin, wore his Hyperdunk 2011 PE against the Los Angeles Lakers. The New York Knicks got back on track with a full and healthy roster last night as the home team hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers to kick off the post-All Star Weekend session of the NBA Season. For Lin, this game was particularly important; after his worst outing against Miami last Thursday, Jeremy needed to regain his confidence and prove that the only fluke about his game was in fact that poor outing against the Heat. Jeremy answered critics by dropping 19 points, 13 assists, and most importantly, giving up just one turnover, and did so while wearing the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 PE issued to him for the Rising Stars Challenge. However, Lin wore the special Hyperfuse Low iD for that game, opting to debut the Hyperdunk 2011 PE last night. Will Lin continue to rock this PE? Will it even release?
