Did Charles Barkley just make as turrible a decision as the 29 other teams who failed to see the greatness in New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin? Team Chuck lost out on their chance to secure Linsanity, who was drafted to Team Shaq for the newly revised NBA Rising Stars Challenge, where Lin will join Knicks teammate Landry Fields among other standout rookie and second-year stars. And if Nike Basketball decided they wanted to create another campout line as big as the galaxy itself, all it would take is a quick-fire release date in New York for this new Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Low Jeremy Lin PE. This NYK’d-out player exlusive honors Lin’s meteoric rise to fame with a ‘J.L. Soph’ tongue tag in step with the ‘Galaxy’/'Big Bang’ signature releases, and this morning’s NBA TV-telecast practice session suggests Jeremy’s pair will be broken in by game time. Just where does Deron Williams fit into ‘Linsanity’? With the Nets being very close to the Lin-led sensation at Madison Square Garden, they’re definitely feeling the snub by the local news media, but with the Nets and D-Will being Jeremy Lin’s first victims of this unprecedented streak of greatness, at least they got some press, right? But before we can crown Lin as an elite point guard, he needs to produces a full season of top-flight performance, similar to how Deron Williams has for six seasons. D-Will is good for 20 and 8 night-in and night-out, with the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low being his weapon of choice. Among the biggest single events from the last and arguably best ever NBA regular season was the Nets-Jazz trade that sent All-Star point guard Deron Williams to New Jersey just in time for a new building and possibly a new superstar teammate or two. But the struggling Nets haven’t been able to pry Dwight Howard away from Orlando and currently sit on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff hunt, so at least D-Will has a solid rotation of Nike Basketball player exclusives to provide some stability during these trying times. As seen on New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams via Sneaker News’ ongoing NBA Feet feature, the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low has started to show up on the NBA hardwood. A retail release can’t be too far behind now, so let’s take a look at a new pair upcoming in a colorway we’ve come to expect from every high-profile Nike Basketball silhouette. The Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low looks great in this ‘Blackout’ edition, its stealthy design adding a bit of extra punch when compared to the masses, thanks to a shimmering iridescent gleam from the outrigger and upper eyelets. Especially from the angles where the heel counter takes on its most jagged appearance, you can see influence from the last two Zoom Kobe releases, and we expect even more colorways on this model thanks to the variety of Team Bank looks on deck. Another great weekend of NBA sports was filled out by the collection of NBA games that went down from Friday to Sunday, and mixed in was a ton of great NBA Feet action from some common names that have popped up this season. Monta Ellis brought something new to his repertoire by wearing the Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’, while Washington’s Jordan Crawford continued his Air Jordan VII agenda by wearing the Air Jordan VII ‘Cardinal’. In Miami, LeBron wore the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Freegums’ while Courtney Lee of the Houston Rockets whipped out the fresh Retro release of the week – the Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’. Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets also introduced the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low, set for a debut this February. The word’s been relatively mum on the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low so far, but we’re now moving into the heart of the season for which the initial previews were projected. That means you can expect a whole bunch of Team Bank colorways like two of the three we’re showing you today, as well as plenty of new looks as is the case with the black, green and white edition. It’s hard to say which colorblocking pattern is more appealing (might depend on whether you’d rather have black for a solid away look or grey for somewhere in the middle), but both templates will translate well to a variety of familiar palettes, and you can get a glimpse into what we can expect in the coming weeks when you click the jump below. via HC
