What a way to close out the month of January! Just last night, Sneaker News showed you Ray Allen’s insane Air Jordan XIII PE in Black/Green, but that wasn’t the only notable sneaker sighting from the past two days. Al Harrington of the Denver Nuggets sported a Nike LeBron 9 iD colorway of Gold/Black, while C.J. Miles of the Utah Jazz wore a great colorway of the Nike Zoom KD III iD. Chris Paul wore a Blue/Red colorway of the Jordan CP3.V, while teammate Blake Griffin wore Kendrick Perkins’ face on his feet (actually the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011). The Knicks finally got back to winning ways, with Amare Stoudemire sporting a nice PE colorway of the Nike Air Max Sweep Thru, and Derrick Rose and the Bulls bounced back from the loss with their leader wearing the adidas adiZero Rose 2.5. Next to Ray’s XIIIs, the sighting of the two nights might be Earl Clark’s Royal Foams. Check out all the NBA action from the last two days of January below, and stay with Sneaker News as we keep you in tune with all of NBA Feet for the month of February! via ESPN.

The highlights belong to a small group of players, like Monta Ellis, who rocked the Air Jordan XI ‘Silver Anniversary’ and the Air Jordan 8.0 ‘Aqua’. New teammate Nate Robinson, a noted sneakerhead, caught our attention with the Air Jordan XIII ‘Playoffs’ (it’s great to see him back on court, isn’t it?). A bit more south, Blake Griffin sported a new PE colorway of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 while Kobe Bryant rocked the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Concord’. Don’t forget John Wall’s Reebok Zig Encore, Durant’s new KD IV joints, and a ton more – all detailed below. via Yahoo!.

Are the Lakers over the hill? Is the dynasty done for? They didn’t have the greatest out of the gate performance on Christmas Day, but if they come up short of a ‘chip again this year it won’t be for a lack of proper footwear. You’re probably already hip to Kobe’s special Christmas colorway, but did you get a look at Pau Gasol’s Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 PE in a similar combo? There is a bit of precedence for this kind of continuity between the two, with Gasol rocking a Grinch colored Hyperdunk last year to match the Kobe VI of the same name. Follow us after the jump for an extra look at Pau’s PE from this year and let us know in the comments what you think of this latest piece of Lakers footwear.

What if? While the NBA lock-out was a dark cloud over the second half of 2011, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, and Andre Iguodala pondered an alternative life in which basketball didn’t exist. Durant would be a TV weatherman, Iggy would a stockbroker, and Blake would be quite comfortable behind a tv-set desk hosting his own late-night TV show. Nike Basketball took it a step further and released a special set of colorways for each NBA star, with Blake receiving this sick special edition of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme; it features a Grey/Red/Blue colorway, matching the suit he wore during a Conan O’Brien appearance earlier this year, and also features a little icon of a stage mic as well as ‘The Blake Show’ logo on the outsole. These are set to hit Foot Locker House of Hoops locations tomorrow along with the Weatherman KD IV, so take a look at the detailed images below and let us know if you’ll be picking up a pair.

When you think of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011, it’s hard to think of anybody but Blake Griffin. The man made this shoe his own when Nike released the earth-shattering “10.0″ Slam Dunk Contest PE, that has undoubtedly been the most celebrated model so far for the latest Hyperdunk flagship. It didn’t stop there though, as another PE dropped in the watery ‘treasure blue’ look to go with his Clippers uni as well as the recently spotted Supreme ‘Blake Show’ edition. Well here’s another one to add to the list, repping an inverted look from his last pair of PE’s, with a dominantly white upper that puts sport red on the Swoosh with the treasure blue playing the background. How does this Blake Griffin ‘home’ colorway match up against his other special releases this year? Let us know in the comments and hit up Eastbay if you need a pair.

Foot Locker ‘Kicksmas’ – Black Friday ‘Black Pack’

November 22nd, 2011 by | 16 comments

foot locker kicksmas black friday black pack 1 Foot Locker Kicksmas Black Friday Black Pack

It is with good reason that the period between mid-November and the end of each calendar year is commonly called the ‘holiday season’.  So many of the world’s local cultures have contributed to a melange of occasions suitable for celebrating, and the one that starts off the annual spike in retail sales starts later this week in the United States.  But even if coming together during the winter results in increased sales, getting the major sneaker brands to cooperate is a task on the order of creating world peace.  So Foot Locker‘s ‘Black Pack’ for Black Friday not only launches the store’s Kicksmas celebration in earnest, but it also manages the ambitious coordination of releases from adidas Basketball, Jordan Brand, Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear.  Dark colorways of the adidas adiZero Power Howard and adiZero Rose 2.0 join the Air Jordan III Retro ‘Black Cement’, Jordan 1 Flight in the same colorway, triple-black Nike LeBron 9s, Zoom Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse 2011s, the Total Air Foamposite Max also in black/anthracite, and John Wall’s Reebok Zig Encore.  Last but not least is the ‘Binary Blue’ Zoom Rookie LWP, a model presumably included because it’s the darkest colorway on a model that has no ‘blackout’ edition (yet?).  It’s a mouthful and enough to drain your wallet, and even if FL’s best wishes come true, it’s unlikely anyone will seek to complete this ‘pack’; so which ones are the must-haves?
