Kevin Durant is inching closer and closer to greatness – pushing the eventual ’10 champion Lakers to the edge and reaching the Western Conference Finals just a month ago. What’s next for the Durantula? He’s currently spending some of his offseason time heading the Nike Skills Academy, where he gave out a sick orange/blue colorway Nike Zoom KD III iDs for his prospects. It features a glowing patent leather upper with royal blue contrast stitching and inner lining, with a royal blue solid outsole with white speckling. We’ve already seen some interesting Zoom KD III iD colorways, like the Year of the Rabbit and the Entourage version, but do you have an idea that tops ‘em all? NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs – Heat vs. Bulls Game 5 Recap

May 27th, 2011 by | 25 comments

nba feet 5 26 11 summary NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Heat vs. Bulls Game 5 Recap

On July 8th, 2010, LeBron James made a public announcement on ESPN, wearing a red and white checkered shirt and some Nike Toki Mids, to make known his decision – one that would change the NBA horizon for the next decade. What resulted was a public backlash, labeling the player who was once a king as a Judas – a traitorous individual who would forsake his people without looking back. LeBron James has made it clear time and time again that his ‘decision’ was based on professional success, and recently apologized for the way the whole ordeal transpired, but in the end, what matters is that the decision was the right one, because LeBron James is back in the NBA Finals, joining his teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

The road to the Finals was not an easy one; constantly under the eye of public scrutiny, the Miami Heat were not the record-breaking juggernaut everyone assumed they would be, as they managed to win an impressive yet underwhelming 58 regular season wins, a far cry from the 72 wins set by the Chicago Bulls in the ’95-’96 season. Still, the Miami Heat, who captured the number-2 seed in the Eastern Conference, steamrolled through the Playoffs and won when it truly mattered (up to this point), and a rematch of the 2006 Finals is now set. For this fifth and final game of the ECF, LeBron James debuted an all-new PE colorway of the Nike LeBron 8 PS, a two-toned black and red colorway that matched the Heat’s away uniform. Dwyane Wade wore the ‘Away’ PE of the Jordan Fly Wade, and Mike Miller switched over to the Zoom KD III ‘Blackout’. The 2011 NBA Finals are now set, so check out the Game 5 recap below and stick with Sneaker News for NBA Feet coverage of the Finals. via Yahoo!.

NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs – Thunders vs. Mavs Game 5 Recap

May 26th, 2011 by | 13 comments

nba feet 5 25 11 summary NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Thunders vs. Mavs Game 5 Recap

On January 4th, 2000, a billionaire entrepreneur named Mark Cuban purchased the Dallas Mavericks, a struggling franchise entrenched in a blight of perennial losing seasons. With no light at the end of the tunnel,Cuban directed the Mavericks to the NBA Finals in just six years, the first in franchise history, earning a reputation as one of most supportive and dedicated owners in professional sports. At the same time, Cuban has not had a smooth relationship with the NBA front office, as he’s incurred more than $1.5 million in fines for incidents involving referees and league officials, with the most notable of Cuban’s outcries stemming from that 2006 Finals series – one that Tim Donaghy claimed was fixed in favor of Miami Heat.

Since that controversial series, Mark Cuban has wheeled and dealed and continued to spend while sticking his head in nearly every big-name free agent/trade discussion. Amidst criticism from so-called NBA experts and fans from around the league especially after losing to Golden State in the first round of the Playoffs in 2007, Cuban continued to trust and build around his superstar Dirk Nowitzki in an unflinching manner, and his devotion has clearly paid off the Mavericks easily defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games and have earned a second trip to the NBA Finals. Two-time scoring champ Kevin Durant have been sent home early, but the future is as bright as ever for the Thunder, so expect them back in the 2012 Finals mix. A rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals looks to be in the books, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for more 2011 NBA Playoff updates as we approach the Finals! via Yahoo!.

One outta two ain’t bad, whether you’re talking about hitting shots from the field or winning a road game against your favored opponent in the Western Conference Finals.  But when it comes to celebrating a major regular season award, one simply isn’t enough, so when his Thunder take to the Ford Center court in Game 3, Kevin Durant will break out the ‘Home’ edition of the Nike Zoom KD III ‘Scoring Title’ PE.  These joints are white where the ‘Away’ pair was black, making the unique interlocking letter pattern on the side panels considerably more visible, which makes for an interesting foil against the forefoot Flywire panel.  Click through to get a better look at a model we should see on Saturday night and stick with Sneaker News to see the Zoom KD III Scoring Title ‘Home’ PE in our NBA Feet feature.

By just his fourth season, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant has managed to lead a young, relatively inexperienced squad to the Western Conference Finals. In his Western Conference Finals debut, Durant displayed the reason why he won his second straight scoring title by dropping forty points, but the older, wiser, and more experienced Dirk Nowitzki countered with 48 points of his own, leading his Dallas Mavericks to a Game 1 victory. In the losing effort, Durant wore the Nike Zoom KD III ‘Scoring Title’ Away PE, a sneaker we previewed yesterday. Does Durant have more 40-point outings left in him for the remainder of the series? The 2011 Playoffs have entered the semi-final round of play, and over the weekend we got a glimpse of all the exciting action to come. Down in Florida, the Miami Heat faced off against the Boston Celtics in a heated match-up of two championship contenders. LeBron James, in the ‘Home’ colorway of the LeBron 8 P.S., and Dwyane Wade, in the Jordan Fly Wade PE, took home a Game 1 victory and a significant edge in the series. Ray Allen, in the Jordan Phase 23 Hoops, and the Rajon Rondo, in the Zoom Kobe VI, did what they could to hold off the Heat. The surprising Grizzlies continued their Cinderella story by winning Game 1 and stealing home-court advantage by defeating the OKC Thunder by a comfortable margin, led by big-men Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol (both in the Air Max Fly By).
