The three-time Scoring Champ enters his first Olympic Games, joining a stacked roster with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and even two of his Thunder teammates in Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Kevin Durant’s a baller. Yes, that sounds wildly obvious, but in a recent interview with ESPN, Durant was hungry for more basketball and couldn’t wait to get the Olympic festivities started – even after a strenous Playoff run and tough loss in the Finals. The reigning three-time Scoring Champion will likely play a major role in running Team USA’s offense, especially with LeBron gravitating more toward the ‘ball-handler’ role and Wade sitting out this year’s Games to nurse an injury. When the KD IV chapter is all said and done, it will go down as one of the best signature sneakers in Nike Basketball history for its high popularity, outstanding colorways, welcoming price-point, and of course, the fact that Durant is a star unlike we’ve ever seen before. The KD IV ‘Scoring Title’, which gives Durant his due props for earning his third straight NBA Scoring Title, will release on July 21st, so butter yourself up with this first detailed look and let us know if these are the best KD IV of the year. The OKC Thunder came back from down double-digits to pull out a win in Game 1. Unfortunately for the Thunder nation, Durant and Co. weren’t able to pull it off for Game 2, but it sure came down to the wire! Clearly it’s the slow starts that have been the Thunder’s achilles heel in the Playoffs thus far, so for Game 3, look for Scott Brooks to push the offense fast and early as OKC looks to recapture their hard-earned Home Court advantage. Looking onto the kicks – Durant rocked his Finals PE of the KD IV again while LeBron reverted to the ‘Away’ Elites to match the uniforms. Wade wore another Black/Gold PE of the Fly Wade 2 EV and Bosh went with his Air Max Hyperdunk 2011 Elite PE while pouring in 16 and 15. Perhaps the best ‘Feet’ belongs to Thabo Sefolosha, who wore a White/Gold Nike Zoom Kobe VI that very much had a ‘Big Stage’ vibe. We’ve got a recap of last night’s events below so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for Game 3 and the potential PE heat! Photos: yahoo

As it turns out Kevin Durant isn’t the only person being outfitted with a special pair of the Nike Zoom KD IV for the 2012 NBA Finals. Also privy to a premium pair is Bun B’s wife Queenie, who was granted this electric black and volt colorway from KD himself, signature and all. The unreleased Nike Zoom KD IV was also spotted recently courtside on the feet of Nike designer and KD confidant Leo Chang, a sighting that no doubt motivated this gracious gifting. Click through to check out this special Nike Zoom KD IV and let us know if you’d like a chance at this colorway at retail.

Is Kevin Durant the best basketball player in the world? He made a serious case for the crown in Oklahoma City’s impressive Game 1 victory over LeBron, D-Wade and the Miami Heat on Tuesday. And though KD hasn’t yet received an Elite Series colorup to call his own, the pair pictured above fits the bill both in terms of aesthetics and performance. The Nike Zoom KD IV is pristine in this gold-accented white colorway, a ‘home’ PE for the 2012 NBA Finals that suggests a similarly elegant black pair should be on tap for Game 3 in MIA. Click through to see more of Durant’s Finals PEs, let us know how they compare to ‘Bron’s red-based LeBron 9 Elites and stick with Sneaker News for more 2012 NBA Finals sneakers. Photo: sina

Advantage: Oklahoma City Thunder. Game 1 kicked off in the Chesapeake Arena last night as the OKC Thunder hosted the Eastern Conference representatives for the opening festivities of the 2012 NBA Finals. Sneaker News gave you a quick preview of the LeBron vs. Durant match-up, and clearly, the outcome of the first battle went in Durant’s favor. Durant, who was wearing the Nike Zoom KD IV NBA Finals PE, lit up the fourth quarter and would not let Miami catch up, sealing the deal with teammate Russell Westbrook hitting some key shots. The entire Thunder squad donned white-based gear, with Center Kendrick Perkins opting for the Air Jordan IV ‘Military’ and Thabo Sefalosha wearing the ‘Home’ Kobe VII Elite.
LeBron James started the game off strong, catching our attention with his own NBA Finals PE of the LeBron 9 Elite, and running-mate Dwyane Wade sported his own PE of the Jordan Fly Wade 2 EV, which featured hints of gold on a red base. The entire Heat squad chose to wear predominately red, with Chris Bosh wearing a sick PE of the Air Max Hyperdunk Elite, Mario Chalmers proudly rocking his own Spalding PE, and perimeter threat Shane Battier wearing his Peak special editions. We’ve got a nice gallery of last night’s NBA Finals Game 1 showdown, so check out the best sneakers of the night and be sure to check back with Sneaker News with more PE goodness and, of course, Thursday night’s Game 2.
