NCAA Feet: 2KSports Classic Coaches vs. Cancer

Arizona, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and St. John’s University congregated at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden for a two-day span of games called the 2KSports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. During the four games that were played, viewers were treated with a healthy helping of on-court sneaker sightings, something we can all expect when footwear-powerhouse Arizona takes the court. Some Wildcats were spotted wearing the Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’, Air Jordan XIV ‘Bulls’, and Zoom Kobe VI in various colorways, while St. John’s players were seen wearing the Black/Red Nike LeBron 9. During the match-up between Mississippi State and Texas A&M, we saw two adidas-outfitted schools go head to head, wearing the adidas Crazy 8 and some TB colorways of the adiZero Rose 2. A nice visual recap awaits you below, so check it out and let us know which sneaker sighting is your fave. via Yahoo!.

Nike Zoom Kobe VI Aquamamba Customs by Emmanuelabor

Sneaker News recently showed you an Air Jordan III done up with Nike Zoom Kobe VI-inspired detailing, but almost everyone outside the Los Angeles megalopolis would agree, any such custom ‘should’ be the contemporary nodding in respect toward the trailblazer.  And that’s what you get with the latest work from Emmanuelabor, a Nike Zoom Kobe VI iD turned ‘Aquamamba’ thanks to the inclusion of the ‘Aqua’ Air Jordan VIII’s signature streaking along the ZK6′s Swoosh and heel.  Going with a NIKEiD base allowed for ‘AQUA’ embroidery on the inner tongue and a translucent outsole; would you like to see the latter on an AJVIII Retro+, or perhaps on the Air Jordan 8.0?  Check out this MJ-inspired Zoom Kobe 6 in more images after the jump and let us know how these rank against the ever growing file of classic colorway reprisals.  via PaintorThread

Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Lakers 3 D + Gradient Release Reminder

Now is the time of year we’re used to see Kobe Bryant celebrating an NBA Championship and raising the banner at Staples Center along with new colorways of his Nike Basketball signatures to commemorate the achievement.  Well, not only did Kobe come up short in the quest for an MJ-tying sixth ring, but the league itself seems bent on preventing him from having another shot.  They can keep the Mamba off the court, but you can’t keep him away from Nike Basketball retailers who’re about to release two of the most compelling colorways from this entire product cycle on Saturday.  The Nike Zoom Kobe VI‘s Flywire-embedded TPU uppers are perfect for complex palettes and the ‘Lakers Gradient’ and ’3-D Gradient’ editions each offer their own take on mastering multicolored snakescales.  Click through to see them one last time and then grab a pair at select retailers or get yours now on eBay.

Air Jordan III x Nike Zoom Kobe VI All Star Customs by El Cappy

Nearly a decade and a half after the ‘Last Shot’, Michael Jordan remains the measuring stick against which all basketball greatness is compared.  And if anyone knows about being compared to His Airness, it’s Kobe Bryant, a guy whose GOAT resume we might have been examining during this entire lockout, had an unexpectedly early playoff exit not led the experts at ESPN to rank him as the 7th best active player.  And while the league is indeed stocked, perhaps like never before, few can hold a candle to the Black Mamba’s thirteen consecutive All-Star appearances.

The latter half of this run marked by Kobe’s move from adidas to Nike was bookended by an Air Jordan III and the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘All-Star’, and now sneaker customizer Eric Lowry has come through with a design that blends the two.  It’d be far too difficult to integrate Elephant print into the ZK6′s TPU snake-scaled uppers, so the more obvious route is to apply the Bred snake look to an AJIII as Lowry did on the ‘blank’ canvas afforded by the ‘Pure $’ pair released in all white.  Check them out in more images after the jump and let us know how the latest El Cappy Customz compare to their own and the best from the rest of the world of custom sneakers.  via PaintorThread

Nike Zoom Kobe VI Lakers 3 D + Gradient Release Date

Fortunately for sneakerheards worldwide, Nike is on the Basketball Never Stops plan, which in turn means that the killer colorways shouldn’t stop anytime soon either. So while we won’t be seeing either of these versions of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI on any NBA feet this year, that shouldn’t stop you from stacking pairs for yourself. The Lakers 3-D and Gradient releases utilize the same basic color blocking, flipping the placement across the two pairs for a home and away look. Throughout the lifespan of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI the sneaker has been a reference point for the sort of advanced graphics capabilities presented by the synthetic uppers, and these two pairs are no exception. Set to hit stores this Saturday November 19th, these two pairs ensure that the Nike Zoom Kobe VI will be going out with a bang rather than a whimper.

NCAA Feet: UNC vs. Michigan State Carrier Classic Recap

College basketball fans were in for an amazing treat when #1 ranked UNC faced off against Michigan State atop an aircraft carrier in Coronado, California. Dubbed the Carrier Classic, this sporting event was a special way to honor the members of the Armed Forces on Veterans Day; the significance of the game seemed paltry to the true purpose of November 11th, as thousands of military veterans as well as President Barack Obama were in attendance, celebrating the remembrance of our nation’s most courageous individuals in a unique way.

Both UNC and Michigan State took the outdoor court wearing the Carrier Classic collection uniforms and sneakers, but also spotted were a number of notable sneakers that were clearly from the players’ own collections; The Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’, Air Jordan V ‘Wolf Grey, Air Jordan XIII White/University Blue, Air Jordan 2011 UNC PE, and the Nike Zoom Kobe VI were spotted alongside the Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 and Air Jordan 8.0. Check out a full recap of the game and the awe-inspiring outdoor basketball court below and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more NCAA Feet features as the college basketball season rolls on! via Yahoo!.

Nike Zoom Kobe VI Lakers Gradient Detailed Images

They might not have the same kind of street-ready wearability as more traditional materials like leather, suede and mesh, but the newfangled synthetics that make Nike Basketball’s newest kicks so light also allows for the kind of precision coloring that you simply cannot master on those other fabrics.  Creating a two-tone worn effect like the one present on the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Lakers Gradient’ would require some kind of weathering process that’d add to the production cost and create some variance between each pair.  But the ZK6 suffers no such irregularity, its Flywire-infused TPU snake scale upper looking as good as it has during this entire product cycle thanks to the skillful blending of Los Angeles Lakers colors.  Have a closer look after the jump and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for the remaining Zoom Kobe 6 release dates.  via Footsell

Nike Zoom Kobe VI Lakers 3 D Detailed Images

Pow! Right in the kisser. That’s kinda what it feels like to be an ardent NBA fan during this most recent lockout, a labor dispute that’s robbing us of the sequel to the best regular season so far this century. But while the owners and players continue to argue until they inevitably settle and get back to banking billions, Nike Basketball would like to offer a more positive spin on that sensation that something’s headed right at your face. The Nike Zoom Kobe VI ’3-D Lakers’ maximizes the model’s TPU snake-scaled upper by applying a stereoscopic effect to each one in colors inspired by the Lakers’ home alternate uniforms. Have a closer look after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and the other remaining Zoom Kobe 6 release dates. via footsell
