Nike Basketball Signatures of Christmas Past

nike basketball christmas shoes Nike Basketball Signatures of Christmas Past

The tradition of special Christmas colorways for signature sneakers is one of the longer running ones with respect to Nike Basketball. That day has consistently been an important one for footwear enthusiasts thanks to the countless energy colorways and the occasional brand new model debuted during the Christmas day games. The theme has, out of necessity, evolved over the years beyond the standard red, white, and green. Just take a look at this year’s shoes for example; you’ve got the LeBron 11 featuring a snowflake decal, the KD 6 with Fair Isle sweater style graphics, and a Kobe 8 with scales practically jumping off the body of the shoe. The Christmas sigs by Nike have evolved from much simpler forms of previous years, and we can only expect the Swoosh to get even more festive in coming years.

nba feet 5 21 12 NBA Feet: Weekend Recap 5/18 5/20

The Second Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs is mid-way through and we’ve already seen an impressive library of sneakers from the games biggest stars and even the lesser-known sneakerhead ballers. The two names to highlight this weekend are both from Los Angeles – Kobe Bryant and young swingman Nick Young of the Clippers; Kobe shed ‘Elite’ by wearing a White/Purple/Green PE of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, which he followed with the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Christmas’, but Nick might’ve done him one better by wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Royal’ during Sunday’s match-up against the Spurs, which followed an unprecedented appearance of the Nike Air Zoom Generation in the ‘First Game’ colorway. Of course, there’s much more to see, like Eric Bledsoe’s Metallic Red Foams, LeBron’s Black/Gold Elites, and Paul George’s sick Fade Option Kobe VII iD, so check it all out below and let us know who rocked the best kicks! Had someone come along with an Air Jordan VI ‘Leopard’ custom just a few short months back, they would have probably looked something a bit closer to the trend that’s sweeping the casual sneaker scene, perhaps crafted from horsehair or somesuch other furry material for good measure.  But take into account the current popularity of color-swap customs and the almost alien good looks of the Kobe VII System ‘Christmas’, and you end up with a ZK7-inspired AJ6 that captures the wild colorway and detailing, but one that offers the luxury of a leather upper that offers a nice foil against the Kobe 7′s techy build.  Click through to see more angles and let us know which colorway has been king to this point for the Air Jordan 6 that seems to attract more of these kinds of customs than almost any other shoe.  via Envintaj Customs

Nike Kobe VII System + Air Force 1 ‘Christmas Day’ Pack

The ‘Battle in Beijing’ might not be a real military conflict, but there was indeed quite a bit on the line when the 2011 edition went down on Christmas Eve in China.  That’s when a lucky 24 sneakerheads got their hands on a double-pack of Nike Zoom Kobe VII System Supreme ‘Leopard’ and a previously unseen Air Force 1 Low in all white with purple laces to bring the two designs closer together.  Both came with ‘Battle . . . ‘ hangtags that furthered last year’s theme, but their double-drawered box, while nicely detailed, can only compare to the GR release of last year’s LeBron 8 V/2 ‘Christmas.  The special wooden packaging wasn’t replicated on this year’s double-up, so would you have rather had one shoe in a sick box or two dope pairs, each with its own special theme?  Let us know with a comment when you click through to see all the photos and stick with Sneaker News for all the Zoom Kobe VII release dates.  via HC

Nike Basketball Christmas 2011 Quickstrikes @ Extra Butter

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  That’s one way of describing Nike Basketball’s Christmas Day 2011 pack headed up by the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Christmas’.  It’s a colorway strikingly similar to last year’s LeBron 8 V/2s, though its inclusion on what might just be the most advanced basketball shoe ever created, does indeed preserve the sense of progress building in LeBron’s signature series.  With the Zoom Kobe VII Supreme ‘Leopard’, we’re seeing a shift from last year’s all-green ‘Grinch’ getup to a more Lakers-oriented colorway, which itself has seen its supposed inspiration move from one wild jungle cat to another.  And rounding out the group is Amar’e Stoudemire’s Air Max Sweep ThruChristmas PE, a shoe previewed just like teammate Carmelo Anthony’s Xmas PEs in green and orange, now appearing with a Sport Red strap that seems far more befitting the season.  Reports had these arriving at retailers on Christmas Day, but stores like Extra Butter will be closed for the holiday and should have these in stock on Monday morning, December 26th.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII Supreme ‘Cheetah’ – New Images

December 19th, 2011 by | 18 comments

nike zoom kobe vii supreme cheetah new images 1 Nike Zoom Kobe VII Supreme Cheetah New Images

Can Kobe Bryant recapture his championship form of two years ago without the help of reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom?  It remains to be seen if the Black Mamba can match Michael Jordan’s six rings, but one thing we know for certain going into the shortened NBA regular season is that Kobe has the craziest tipoff kicks in the whole league.  The Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Cheetah’ takes the neon green ‘Grinch’ theme from last year and ups the ante with plenty of Lakers purple and the most eye-catching palette even in a year when St. Patrick’s-looking kicks are dotting the Christmas Day landscape.  Add in the cheetah spots across the Flywire-equipped upper and seal up either of the Zoom Kobe VII Supreme System’s interchangeable booties with red laces and these come out as the showstopper of Nike Basketall’s Xmas 2011 trio.  Have a closer look at the first ‘Predator Pack’ Zoom Kobe 7 release and stick with Sneaker News for details on the Christmas Day drop.  via SoleBoutique
